Doctor in the House
John
Greetings again. I feel pretty certain that the scene from Doctor in the House pix dh005 is Tottenham Court Toad at Goodge Street Underground and that the street with the Express Dairy on the corner is Tottenham Street. As usual I am too far away to check it out for a NOW pix, but....perhaps in the summer when I visit my daughter in London.
I took some location snaps from Seance on a Wet Afternoon, but they're rather grainy and wonder if they would reproduce on your site.
Great site, keep up the good work.
Cheers
Roy

Roy, that still has been plaguing me for a while. I'll gladly take the now pic when I'm next there, but I fear it isn't Goodge Street. I have a photo of the station from 1957 and it doesn't have the roundel in the still. the 'Express Dairies' building doesn't have that rounded corner and the other side of Tottenham Street is open space and I think has been for a long time.
I have a tiny suspicion where it may be. Forgive me for not saying until I have more evidence, but if it is right you'll have put me on the right track and will deserve due credit.

Yes! It's the top of Gower Street, the buildings on the left of dh002a. The tube is Euston Square, the side road is Gower Place and the doorway was H K Lewis the medical bookshop, now part of UCL. I've got a now shot but I think John has a backlog of them.
