Moving from lodging to lodging, drunken author David Linton and his wife Jean take a room at the Belmont Private Hotel.

Having inherited her Aunt Grace's house in the country, the couple are driven to the property in fictional Witherley by Richard Foster.

At his office, Jean takes advice from Richard about selling the house. Bridge Street at the corner of Manor Road in Walton on Thames, Surrey recognised by RL. The street also appears in 'Operation Diplomat', 'The Sleeping Tiger' and 'The Naked Truth'.
