It's 3rd September 1973 and David Locke has just found out that David Robertson is an illegal arms dealer. Munich Airport, Germany.

Locke drives away from the airport after being spotted by gun runners. Flughafen München-Riem (Munich-Riem Airport),idenified by Manuel Gurtner, was the then international airport, located in the borough of Trudering-Riem in the east of Munich. It closed in 1992 when the new Munich Airport commenced operations.

Locke drives through the streets of München (Munich), Germany. Manuel advises that thi si more accurately, the posh 13th borough, called Bogenhausen, and this is the intersection of Hompeschstraße and Möhlstraße.

Locke and the Girl drive from Barcelona to the south of Spain. But in fact, Manuel Gurtner tells us, we are about 60 km east of Barcelona in the province of Girona, Catalonia. The car is following the road leading up from the village of Hostalric to the well-known 18th century fortress perched on a basalt hill.

After shaking off the police and damaging the car, David and the Girl arrive in a small town and ask for directions to a garage. Manuel Gurtner explains "Known as "the white village", Sorbas is located on a karst plateau above the Río Aguas, 52 km northeast of Almería, and also appears in the 1958 film 'Les Bijoutiers du clair de lune', starring Brigitte Bardot and Stephen Boyd."

Locke puts the Girl on a bus, promising to meet her in Tangier later. At this point, the course of the Carretera nacional in direction of Murcia was still different then today. Manuel Gurtner believes that possibly the house next to the bus stop later had to make way for the highway bridge over the Río Aguas.

Locke walks to the garage and finds it closed. Manuel advises that we are still in Sorbas and this is at Calle García Roca, 4.
