Blue Lamp, The - Bomb damaged London, much like It always Rains??., and possibly Wharncliffe Gardens, W9. This is definitely not Wharncliffe Gardens, it might be Compton St., or Hall Place, suggests Aidan McManus. The latter! An ex-resident, Alan Bowgen advises that this is the end of Hall Place where it joined Little Church Street. The pub in the background was called The Hall Arms. The bomb site is between Edgware Road and Hall Place, now occupied by a small block of flats called Gilbert Sheldon House. Alan and his family were moved there in the mid to late 1950's when the tenement houses were demolished. (RL)

Blue Lamp, The - Alan Bowgen advises that this street was known as Philip Place and ran parallel to the actual Paddington Green. Going up the street, one side of the street was all houses similar to those shown in the still, while opposite were iron railings and gates that let into the green. Philip Place was a cul-de-sac and at the very end, going forward from the front of the police car in the still was a mortuary! Alan adds that what was once Philip Place is now occupied by the City of Westminster College that runs adjacent to Paddington Green.(RL)

bp050n. I've had the temerity to replace the former unpublished pic of Warwick Crescent as I don't think the curve is acute enough. My effort is on the north side on what is now the back of Aldsworth and Barnwood Closes, W9. But I could be wrong, as has been known. SJ
