Angry Silence, The 1960Richard Attenborough, Pier Angeli, Michael Craig, Bernard LeeIpswich, Suffolk and Willesden Junction, London
Director : Guy Green   Production Company : Beaver Productions.

A young factory worker in Ipswich decides to stand up against his work-mates and fellow union members when they want to hold a wildcat strike. A railway station needs to be identified as well as some London streets.

This movie is available on a swap/exchange/barter basis - see our wants/swaps information page. It is a VHS PAL video copy. If you would like to swap/barter or exchange one of your tapes, videos or DVDs for this copy then look at the movies/films listed by geographical area pages - our wants are shown in black - to find out which films I require and for which I will exchange one of my videos or DVDs.

Can you identify any of the real streets for this movie?
We are always looking for more help with identifying these filming locations and would be grateful for any positive identifications, snippets or references you can offer about these movie making locations.

An LMS, London Midland and Scottish freight engine, I'm told, and Ipswich was Great Eastern. We're only on Pic. 1 and already the plot thickens! The locomotive 40010 is not a freight locomotive but a class 3MT mixed-traffic loco, one of a class of 70 which spent most of their life on local and suburban passenger trains. This particular one was allocated to Watford in 1948 and by 1960 had moved to Willesden so from either location could regularly be seen anywhere between Euston and Northampton. All the Willesden Junction main line platforms were completely demolished in 1962 so a recognisable now shot is impossible. However there was a long footbridge, very similar to that seen, linking the main line platforms to the high level platforms. As the same station was used for the background to the closing credits I suggest that all the railway filming was done at Willesden Junction. John Ashley sent in this detailed account. Wonderful, thank you. And John adds...The story is supposedly set in Melsham but it is not the real Melsham which is three mile south-east of the better known Melksham in Wiltshire

Not Ipswich. However Simon Barnes kindly wrote in and said that the station is Willesden Junction. This station was also used in School for Scoundrels. Any pics anyone?
