Satanic Rites of Dracula, The

Hanson (Maurice O'Connell) escapes from Pelham House after witnessing a satanic ritual. High Canons at Well End near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.

At the gates to the country house in fictional Crocksford Heath, a pursing guard falls from his motorcycle when shot by Hanson's waiting colleague. The Lodge on Buckettsland Lane, also seen in 'The Devil Rides Out'.

Pictures obtained by Hanson are shown by Agent Torrence to Inspector Murray as he's briefed about the incident involving prominent members of society. High Canons on Buckettsland Lane, Well End in Hertfordshire.

Torrence's secretary Jane leaves the office. The wording on the background building reads 'Century Insurance' and this is Cleveland Place in SW1. To the right is the rear of Distillers House that stood on St James's Square.

Peter found that the area has been rebuilt.

As Jane waits behind a milk float, a biker watches her from between motorcycles. Looking from Cleveland Place onto King Street. This small street has been redeveloped.

Something familiar remains as seen in Peter's comparison.

The motorcyclist is joined by another and they begin to follow Jane after she pulls out onto the main road. Facing south on St James's Street at the junction with Ryder Street.

Peter was in the same place.

When she becomes aware that she is being tailed, Jane turns a corner. The junction of Bayswater Road and Queensway in Bayswater W2. The area was seen in 'The Yellow Balloon'.

The bikers begin to threaten as they catch up. Queensway looking towards Bayswater Road and Kensington Gardens. Just along from where scenes in 'Johnny You're Wanted' were shot.

Now, with the terrace intact on the left side at least. SJ

But behind her, the motorcyclists keep up. Wilsham Street in Notting Hill facing the junction with Princedale Road. The background buildings still stand, as does the right hand corner building.

With new development, this is as far back as I could go but it shows the surviving buildings on Princedale Road. SJ

Jane takes another corner in the unfamiliar part of town. Looking from the newly extended Bard Road towards the junction with Latimer Road and the, still surviving, depository building. The location featured in 'Operation Third Form'.

The bikers keep up their pursuit. Bard Road with the West Cross Route hidden by the fence to the left and the Hammersmith & City Line on the background bridges.

And now the new building's hiding the concrete section of the railway bridge. SJ

Jane watches the road ahead as she speeds on. The bridge carries the Hammersmith & City railway line between Latimer Road and, now, Wood Lane stations.

The Mini screeches to a halt as Jane runs out of road, allowing the bikers to capture they prey. The recently truncated Bard Road with the newly constructed West Cross Route on the left.

Following a visit from Torrence and Inspector Murray, Professor Lorrimar Van Helsing (Peter Cushing) heads to see Professor Keeley. This is the steps running down from the Royal Albert Hall to Prince Consort Road in SW7. The location was seen in 'The Ipcress File', 'A Touch of Class' and 'The Thirty Nine Steps'.

Inspector Murray watches Pelham House through binoculars. High Canons was also seen in 'Digby, the Biggest Dog in the World', 'Dr. Phibes Rises Again', 'To The Devil a Daughter', 'Rentadick', 'You Must Be Joking' and 'Murder on the Orient Express'.

Professor Van Helsing arrives at the office block now standing on the site of St Bartolph's Church, the location of Dracula's demise in the previous film. Finlay Ferguson points us to Wayne Kinsey's book "Hammer Films on Location" (ISBN-13: ?978-1620504727) in which this building is identified as of the Panoramic Building at 152 Grosvenor Road in SW1.
