We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. The opening sequences is in a seemingly busy London Street. Possibly a stage set.

The early part of the movie take place around a set of fountain steps, upon which Squibs ( Betty Balfour) sits and sells flowers from her basket. Looks very much like another stage set.

A set? But there's a perfectly serviceable real one from Adrian Grepnold. Piccadilly Circus, looking towards Swan & Edgar/Tower Records as was. Eros was moved in the 1980s. UPDATE Richard Lovejoy has shown that this really was a set. The 1935 stone blocks are too square and rounded and the window verticals too thin and flat.

Constable Charley lee (Stanley Holloway) crosses from under an arch to meet Squibs (Betty Balfour). This movie seems to be prodominately filmed within stage sets, very evident in close-ups of building brickwork.

Sam Hopkins (Gordon Harker) leads Bill (Ronald Shiner) across a residential courtyard. Another stage set?

A busy London street? Another stage set. Constable Charley Lee, with armbands on holds up traffic.

A well known location, The Tower of London where Constable Charley Lee takes Squibs.
Peter provides this view with The Shard as an addition to the skyline.

And finally, they go to the races. Do the races still entertain this many people? Peter Brown says "not quite as many, but the St Leger at Doncaster still attracts a pretty impressive crowd". He is pretty sure that this is the 1933 St Leger won by Hyperion, one of the great racehorses and an even greater bloodstock influence. (RL)
