Gone to Earth

Country house and graveyard. Nick Dando of the www.Powell & Pressburger.org website has identified this and other locations for us. Lord's Hill Chapel, Snailbeach, Shropshire. (RL)

Not all that straightforward to find, but at least there was a signpost Lordshill east off the main road through Snailbeach. SJ

Supposed to be a Shropshire village, and who said a fox isn’t an actor? And in a dozen pages of actors listed on imdb, the poor old fox doesn’t get a mention. It is indeed Shropshire confirms Nick, specifically the chimney above Lord's Hill Chapel, Snailbeach, with Lord's Hill Farm in the distance. (RL)

A country cottage, possibly a set? No, not a set says Nick, the cottage was abandoned for a while but he and Steve Cook of the Powell & Pressburger Appreciation Society visited in the early 2000's and found that it had been saved. It is above the hamlet of Pentre Rodney, between the hamlet of New Invention and the village of Chapel Lawn, Shropshire under the brooding presence of Caer Caradoc. (RL)

There’s a clue there somewhere.

This is to be found on the Cooke clock tower in the heart of Much Wenlock at the corner of High Street and Barrow Street. It was restored in the 80s so maybe the plaques were also remodelled. This one has the closest sentiment.

Eyton says IMDb, but Eyton doesn’t have a castle. Seems to be just a pile of earth. Perhaps the “castle” is a cardboard set. It looks overall the same colour, with no weathering or staining, so I reckon a set. It's Ludlow castle says Richard W Jones
