Originally this ran to 18 grabs but Neil Rigby took the bull by the horns and took another, to date, 23 grabs and brilliantly sleuthed the locations.

Added info from Bruce (July 2014) Opening scene downtown buildings have “300” addresses. Red building Bronson crosses the street still there. Top of exploded building is still gone and boarded up. McDonalds now in parking area then. This is at 3rd St and Broadway.

Can you help:

If you have any information regarding this production, the locations or, even better, some comparison shots please contact us. Images submitted must be in Landscape orientation, as would be seen on the cinema screen, not Portrait.

We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. Please do not forward additional screen captures to us but bring the detail to our attention, for we do, and are, 're-addressing' these older entries as time allows.

Bronson in downtown LA ... now found to be between Wall Street and San Julian Street right in the heart of Los Angeles.

After a false alarm, Neil Rigby had another go at this one, and that takes a special open-minded sleuthing ability. See the "S. C. Dodge" (blue in the "then"). That clinched it. East 5th Street by San Julian Park, LA 90013. Google/NR

Useful address in same scene as above in the opening dialogue-free sequence... 305 South Vermont Avenue, suggests Neil Rigby

303 East 5th Street, now the Los Angeles Mission, serving the homeless on "Skid Row" right in the center/centre of downtown LA, east of Pershing Square, seen near the finale of Speed (1994). Google/NR

Wynn at an LA beach, reminiscent of the one in Lethal Weapon where Mel Gibson lived in a caravan... nope, that was Dockweiler State Beach just to the north.

Abalone Cove, Palos Verdes, California 90275. Streetview and Neil.

Same beach: this angle reminds of the final scene in the original Planet of the Apes... nope again though the south end of Westward Beach, Malibu (the actual location) has a similar cliff face.

Abalone Cove, Palos Verdes, California 90275. Neil with one and the shape of the cliff is really captured by this shot.

Bronson and Vincent at a cemetery

Calvary cemetery, South Eastern Ave, Los Angeles, California 90022. Neil

Road sign to the zoo in Griffith Park.

And here's Google, Neil Rigby

Naples on the seafront.

Via Ferdinando Russo, Naples 80123. Neil

Bronson in Naples, by the sea.

Via Ferdinando Russo, Naples 80123. Neil

Nice Neapolitan lamppost.

There's the lamppost now painted black on the right, and note the trees on the left. Identified as the Piazza del Plebiscito by Neil Rigby with steetview image to match.

As above.

There are two rows of lampposts and I think this is the right one as the lions on the ones on the other side of the piazza have a different orientation. SJ

From the assassins' (or mechanics') room looking towards Vesuvio over the bay of Naples.

Thanks to Neil, this streetview is looking from Via Posillopo Naples 80122 to Castel Dell'Ovo, seen in, for example, The September Affair. But this is not from the same place as the hotel, suggested in mech007 and 008.

Now in Amalfi: Bronson obliges a tourist with a photograph.

Now where the coaches park. Hotel La Brussola in the background behind the new shelter. SJ

Looking the other way to the east.

Now, with the gleaming white Hotel Residence in full view. SJ

Inside Amalfi cathedral to San Andreo Apostolo.

Great match from Andrew Downey with thanks.

Outside the cathedral, also seen in A Good Woman and La Macchina Ammazzacattivi

Now. SJ

Vincent at the top of the stairs leading into the cathedral.

The bronze door cast in Constantinople in 1060 (done some homework), one of three entrances to the cathedral. SJ

Charlie enjoys lunch.

The Piazza Duomo of Amalfi. SJ

Bronson and Vincent on a beach, Italy or USA. It's supposed to be Amalfi area, but I don't recognise that prominent stack.

Three year mystery solved! A google shot from Neil: there's Capri in the background as seen in the then.

There it is again.

Parco Virgiliano Viale Virgilio, 80123 Napoli, Italy. G/NR.

Bronson and Vincent back on the Amalfi drive for a shoot-out.

The best Google match sent in by Neil Rigby. One can make out the layby chevrons. This is the SS163 road - Via Guglielmo Marconi, West of and looking towards Positano.

All the following are added stills from Neil Rigby.

380 South San Rafael Ave, Pasadena, California. Neil and Bing map

And this one

The Carousel, Griffith Park, Los Angeles: thank you, Neil

Neil again with a then and now, who admits "A fairly easy one: the address was on the web." But he still took the trouble

The view has hardly changed. Cad-Nickel Plating, East 14th Street and Long Beach Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90021.

The handball scene. Address Poinsettia Park, North Poinsettia Place, Los Angeles, CA 90046

And Neil sent in an aerial shot to show the four courts, but here's the best streetview angle.

Bronson (just out of shot to the right) observing the target and his girlfriend. Another addition.

Piazzetta Marinelli, Naples 80134. Now this must have taken some finding in the rabbit warren of streets in Napoli by Neil, whose google shot of 11/11/11 (how singularly binary) is now replaced by SJ on site.

Via Sambuco, between Casa Bianca and Sambuco north of Ravello.

The closest Google and Neil, who says look at the mountain ridge shapes, could get.

Michael-Vincent in action, more from Neil.

Maybe/probably with overgrown stairs, and the building looks definitely a match. Great googling by Neil.

Back to the coast road (SS 163) from inland.

Via Umberto I, Praiano, where it meets via Roma. The tunnel is 11 km east of Positano.

And another

Via Umberto I, further east from the tunnel.

And again. The next four are the SS 163, Strada Statale Amilfitana, to the west of Erchie.

There's the concrete trough. Neil and Google

As above

Replacing NR's google shot of 2011 with one from a coach. SJ

Bronson on the Amalfi Drive.

Bronson back in LA, out of chronological sequence. 1235 Sierra Alta Way, LA, CA 90069

An aerial view. All from Neil. Well done and thanks.

The lip read scene, and the next 3.

Eagle Vista Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90041. More Googling from Neil Rigby.

As above

As above

Blimey, a bit hard!

Not with Neil around.

The lip read scene location. Eagle Rock Recreation Center, Eagle Vista Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90041.

And there it is, I think. More thens and nows sent in by Neil Rigby.

This is the approach to Wynn's house.

Now with more cliff vegetation. Angelo Drive, LA. Google/Neil

Taken a turn-off

Neil and Google at work.

The house itself

Satmaps this time: the same house at 3010 Angelo Drive, LA 90210. And a rather nice one too. Found by Neil.

This follows on from mech002, and proves East 5th Street, LA 90013, found by Neil Rigby.

See the tall building in the background (looking west towards Pershing Sqaure) and there's the mission railing on the right (cf./cp. mech002n). Google/NR

Bronson parks the car.

South Maple Avenue, LA 90013. This is just north of Wall Street and west of East 5th Street. So just round the corner from mech002 and 041. Google/NR
