In a hotel room in Paris, a doctor comes out of the shower and finds that his wife has disappeared. He soon finds himself caught up in a world of intrigue, espionage, gangsters, drugs and murder.

Stephen Clapp identifies this as the southbound carriageway of the north-west section of the Périphérique at Porte d'Asnières, emerging from the wide Avenue de la Porte d'Asnières bridge 17th arrondissement of Paris with the tall thin tower of Église Saint Odile on Avenue Stéphane Mallarmé in the centre distance.

The taxi suffers a flat tyre. Dr. Richard Walker (Harrison Ford) talks with the taxi driver (Djiby Soumare). Located by Stephen Clapp, this is the hard shoulder on the westbound carriageway of the A3 at Porte de Bagnolet in the 20th arrondissement, east of the the road bridge carrying Rue Charles Delescluze and a few hundred metres from the end of the motorway at the Périphérique.

A replacement taxi drives through the streets of Paris to the hotel. Michael believes that the old iron structure in the background might just give a clue and this is Place de Mexico in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.

Driving through Paris. Manuel Gurtner draws out attention to the dome in the distance which gives a clue. The slightly damaged Peugeot 604 SL from 1976 runs north on the Boulevard de Sébastopol. The pharmacy near the corner with Rue Berger still exists.

Located by Manuel Gurtner who adds, "The view towards the river Seine shows the same landmarking cupola from capture 15 and reveals that it belongs to the Tribunal de commerce de Paris, the commercial court, inaugurated in 1865 and situated on the Île de la Cité."
