If you have any information regarding this production, the locations or, even better, some comparison shots please contact us. Images submitted must be in Landscape orientation, as would be seen on the cinema screen, not Portrait.
We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. Please do not forward additional screen captures to us but bring the detail to our attention, for we do, and are, 're-addressing' these older entries as time allows.

The Governor (Peter Jones) bids farewell to Marcus Pendleton (Peter Ustinov) as he is released from prison after serving a sentence for embezzlement. Wormwood Scrubs, Du Cane Road, London W12.
Anyone released today would have left before I arrived.(RL)

Pendleton catches a bus outside Wormwood Scrubs. Vikki Cole-Richardson explains that this is Du Cane Road W12 and although it appears that Pendleton is leaving the Scrubs to the right of the main gate, the background building stands to the left.

A single deck bus replaces the Routemaster in Antony Blair's view.

This is a close up showing Wormwood Scrubs prison in the background prior to Pendleton boarding the bus in the previous image and Vikki adds that the walls of the prison wings are all virtually identical. The prison also features in 'Appointment with Crime', 'Bullseye', 'A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square', 'Dr. Crippen', 'Eight O'Clock Walk', 'The Italian Job', 'The Horses Mouth', 'Three Steps to the Gallows' and many others.

Through a window opposite, Vikki Cole-Richardson provides this shot taken from inside her boyfriend's flat.

The bus pulls away and heads towards town. At the time of filming route 15 generally ran between Ladbroke Grove and Poplar via Wormwood Scrubs. Du Cane Road W12.

Antony Blair nearly missed the bus for this shot.

Further along the route. Swiss Cottage in NW3 identified and captured by Richard Lovejoy (RL) . . .
. . . who remembers when the little building was indeed white.

Pendleton searches for a job. Watling Avenue, Burnt Oak in London.
The shops have changed considerably since Pendleton and I last walked that street. (RL)
- Capture 7
- 09 May 2013
Taking a break during job hunting. This appears to be Watling Park at the corner of Watling Avenue and Orange Hill Road.
Richard took the shot at the suggested location and remembers the structure but cannot recall where it was. With the changes and foliage, it was difficult to replicate the shot.

Patty Terwilliger Smith (Maggie Smith) moves into her new flat. Unknown location.

Pendleton shops for new clothes as part of his 'identity theft' plan. Unidentified location. Is that a Mac Fisheries two doors along from the tailors?

Notice the reflection in the tailors shop window. A branch of Lloyds Bank with a distinctive canopy across the street. Unknown location.

Ta-Can-Co headquarters, Pendleton's target after assuming the identity of computer expert Caesar Smith. The London Movie Guide locates this building in Paternoster Square, north of St. Pauls, London EC4.

Also seen in Herostratus. Now replaced by new buildings including the London Stock Exchange. SJ

Looking up at the Ta-Can-Co building. Sudbury House, London EC4.

This points in the general direction of Old Bailey seen in the "then". SJ

Pendleton returns home to his flat. The same place as image homi007. Unidentified location.

Pendleton arrives home having assumed the identity of Ceasar Smith. Unknown location.

Willard C. Gnatpole drives Patty home from the office. Simon James' London Movie Guide identifies this location as the south exit from Greenwich Park in London SE10.
Simply dreadful filler, blurry, vendor in the way, needs replacing immediately. But it does prove the location. SJ. And not too much later Richard Lovejoy provided a far superior shot. Note reuilt posts.

- 23 May 2013
Suggestive signs line the road as Gnatpole tries to seduce Patty. Richard Lovejoy found Dean's Lane, Edgware, Greater London.
The changing face of shopping parades. (RL)

Another sign, this time a warning. Hale Lane in Edgware . . .
. . .The sign worked, not a child in sight. Image and identification by Richard.

Pendleton visits European cities to set up a network of fake businesses. Stock or second unit shot of a Citroën travelling along Quai Saint-Michel in Paris.
Not the best of shots but I risked life and limb as it was. (RL)

Pendleton takes a taxi to the station. Paddington station, London W2.
The slope is still there but not available to traffic. (RL)

Pendleton at Paddington station W2.
Those were the days, "Platform 8 Paddington as quick as you can!" (RL)

Patty takes a job as a bus conductor and gets left behind. The bus shows route 185 between Victoria and Lewisham but it appears to be a prop.
Richard is reasonably confident that this is Adelaide Road at the junction with Elsworthy Rise, NW3. It is not far away from homi005, it is on the 187a bus route that passes Patty after her bus drives off. The tower block further down the road is 'Blashford' (see http://www.20thcenturylondon.org.uk/mol-82-622-8) Whilst the perspective in the photo is far from convincing, the location in Google Earth is more sympathetic to "Then". The tree on the right looks as though it is the original, not least, virtually on private property.
- Capture 23
- 21 Oct 2021
Patty distracts Gnatpole (Bob Newhart) after he becomes suspicious of Pendleton. Inside the Apple Boutique that stood at the corner of Paddington Street and Baker Street, London W1. The shop closed in June 1968.

Given the re-development of the properties opposite (seen as a reflection in the screen grab) and perhaps it being unlikely to achieve a suitable comparative shot from within No 94 Paul Lincoln settled for a shot of 94, what was the 'Apple Boutique'. (RL)
- Capture 24

Pendleton and Patty head for Rio de Janeiro from London Airport. This is the Europa Building which used to be Terminal 2. The building closed in 2009 and was demolished in 2010. Heathrow Airport, Hounslow in Greater London, which was also seen in 'The Alphabet Murders', 'Midnight Lace' and 'Cone of Silence'.
