They drive to a mews. I've seen this one before either for real or in another film but it eludes the addled mind temporarily. Groom Place, London SW1 identified by TonyK, as seen in 'Perfect Friday', 'Absolutely Fabulous' and 'Colonel March Investigates'.

Is this the Cascais area?

Yes, it is the Praia da Ribera de Cascais. "Edwards runs off the beach in front of the Hotel Baia, which is still here on the left, out of shot. The church-like building is the Palácio Seixas." With thanks to Nick Knight who provides this shot. (SJ)

The road Edwards crosses is the Passeio Dom Luís I where it intersects with the Praça 5 de Outubro, Cascais. That's the corner of the Hotel Baia on the right (more or less central in the then): built in the '60s but extensively renovated in 2005. NK (SJ)

Fortaleza Do Guincho, Estrada Do Guincho, 2750-642 Cascais. A 17th century fort that's been a 5 star hotel with a Michelin starred restaurant since 1998. Guincho beach from On Her Majesty's Secret Service is behind it. Another belter from Nick Knight (SJ)
