Storyline:

A middle-aged owner of a roadside garage and café/bar has a young and sexy wife. Trouble is inevitable when she gets involved with Tom, the new mechanic, who accidently kills her husband in a scuffle that is made to look like an accident. Marilyn is subsequently lured by a flashy “Mr Fixit” who promises her the high life, but he runs away when she talks of marriage. Tom realizes that she cannot be trusted and rejects her. Tom and Marilyn are finally arrested when the live in maid and waitress Rosie, who herself is in love with Marilyn, realizes that she would not always be there for her and tells the police all she knows.

Can you help:

If you have any information regarding this production, the locations or, even better, some comparison shots please contact us. Images submitted must be in Landscape orientation, as would be seen on the cinema screen, not Portrait.

We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. Please do not forward additional screen captures to us but bring the detail to our attention, for we do, and are, 're-addressing' these older entries as time allows.

  • 'Now' required

Tom Price (Maxwell Reed) is dropped off by the side of the road on his way to starting a job at George Sanders (Leslie Dwyer) garage. Unknown location.

  • 'Now' required

As Tom sees that he is losing Marilyn Saunders (Sandra Dorne) he wakes up one morning and looks out of his bedroom window. Whereas the garage has been a set up until now this view appears genuine, a moving train and petrol pumps that do not match the set. Unknown location.

  • 'Now' required

Tom decides to go out and buy train tickets to London for himself and Marilyn to get away and start afresh. It looks like a reverse POV of the road in mar001. Unidentified location.

It cuts to him running into Shepperton Station. Also seen in 'On the Fiddle' as well as 'Heavens Above!' and, as Julian Neal points out, 'Cockleshell Heroes'.

Now substantially re-developed.
