They say that everybody in the world has someone, somewhere who looks like they do . . . . The film opens with a view over SE1 with Lambeth Palace and the former St. Mary-at-Lambeth church standing at the bottom of the screen. The location can also be seen in ‘Too Hot to Handle’, ‘The Tunnel’, ‘Secrets of a Door-to-Door Salesman’, ‘Madame Louise’, ‘Unearthly Stranger’, ‘George and Mildred’, ‘Midnight Lace’, ‘Brannigan’ and ‘Seventy Deadly Pills’.

The shot pans to settle on the Houses of Parliament, on the other side of the River Thames.

At the British Nuclear Developments Research Centre, Dr. Daniel Hicklar works on his new fusion process. Strawberry Hill House, St. Mary's College in Strawberry Hill, Twickenham.

In the grounds of the centre Dr. Hicklar's colleague Sir John Bavistock (Roger Moore) is interviewed about the the work. Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham. The location was also used in 'The Trygon Factor', 'Villain', 'Eat the Rich', 'Personal Affair' and 'Father Brown'.

Through the trees that now hide the building, Antony notes that the staircase can still be made out in the middle of shot.

After perfecting the process, Dr. Daniel Hicklar (Michael Caine) runs from the building to tell Sir John. Strawberry Hill House at St. Mary's College in Strawberry Hill.

As Sir John and Dr. Hicklar hide their success from the world, Sidney Lipton serves the last few minutes of his prison sentence. Wormwood Scrubs on Du Cane Road, London W12.

Meanwhile, Sidney nears his old home. With the help of the film's location manager, Terry Blyther, Neil Rigby identifies the location as Bramston Road in NW10, also discovering that a house has since been built in the gap between properties.

As he pushes the front door, the house begins to be demolished with the façade falling around Sidney as he stands in the open doorway. This is Bramston Road off Wrottesley Road, Harlesden.

The Rottweiler is allowed to mate with several bitches causing him to sleep, allowing the crooks to obtain the key.

To check that he can be mistaken for his double, Gerald visits Sir John's health club . . . . . discovering that it is actually a brothel.

Health club or brothel it is at 2 Charles Street, London W1 and this replaces Neil's Google shot from August 2016. It's taken time as it was being refurbished for quite a while. SJ

Next, Sidney visits Dr. Hicklar's health club . . . discovering that it is just a health club. Neal Rycroft points out that "The Devonshire Club" is opposite Ryder Street on Duke Street St. James's, London SW1.

Dressed as Bavistock and Hicklar, Gerald and Sidney set off for Lacey's.

On their way to carry out the heist, Gerald suggests that the two should get to know two ladies that have entered a bar. Looking across at Apsley House from the corner of Piccadilly and Park Lane in W1.

The morning after an altercation in the bar involving colleagues of the real Hicklar and Sir John, Willie returns home to find an answerphone message left by Sidney. Melbury Road W14, located by Neal Rycroft.

"Alas..... it was an empty Primary School which is no more.... we used it extensively for BULLSEYE... interior... stunts in the car park etc.... Following a successful heist, Sidney and Gerald are taken into custody where they are recruited by the C.I.A. and MI5. Inside the hall of the Science Museum on Exhibition Road, London SW7.

Now officially impersonating Hicklar and Sir John and accompanied by Willie and C.I.A. agent Flo Fleming, Sidney and Gerald mingle with other passengers joining the "Stately Home tour of England and Scotland". Victoria Station in London SW1.

At the first stop on the tour, Dr. Hicklar catches up with the train after being freed from jail. The railway station at Alresford in Hampshire.

Running late after fighting off Hicklar, Sidney runs into the building to carry out the first part of the auction. Syon House off Park Road in Brentford, Middlesex located by Neal.

The tour passengers return to the train where Dr. Hicklar overpowers Sidney and takes his place. Alresford station on the Mid-Hants Railway in Hampshire which is also featured in 'Children of Men'.

Jonathan provides a current view of the station but unfortunately coaches are much larger these days. However, he advises that the 1965 Plaxton bodied Bedford VAL on the left is part of the fleet of the Friends of King Alfred Buses preservation society and the photo was taken during one of their running days, May Bank Holiday 2017. King Alfred were a bus company in Winchester from 1920s to 1973. (RL)

At the next stop, the real Hicklar runs from the train after telling C.I.A. agents that Dr. Hicklar is in the luggage van. Medstead and Four Marks station on Station Approach in Four Marks near Alton, Hampshire.

Following the revelation that Willie is Flo's mother, Gerald and Sidney open the door of the luggage van to find Darrell Hyde (Lee Patterson) and his agents on the platform. This appears to be Ropley station.

As Sir John makes his way onto the train, Willie rents a car to return to Naphurst with her daughter.

At a petrol station, Flo asks her mother which one out of Sidney and Gerald is her father.

The C.I.A. are present when the train arrives at Inveraray after most of the passengers have been poisoned by Sir John. Platform 3 at Alton station on Station Road, Alton in Hampshire.

Sidney and Gerald are driven to the Argyll Castle Hotel. Inveraray Castle near Inveraray in the county of Argyll & Bute.

Inveraray Castle is the clan seat of the Campbell's and home to the current Duke of Argyll. Andy McArthur provides this shot adding that the castle is a popular tourist attraction.

The pair enter the hotel where they are briefed by Nigel Holden from MI5 and Hyde from the C.I.A. Inveraray Castle, Argyle & Bute.

There was no piper on duty when Andy McArthur called.

Following an attempt on their lives, Sidney and Gerald leave the hotel. Inveraray Castle to the north of Inveraray.

There's little change in Andy's modern view. The canon in the foreground is one of the many historic weapons on display at Inveraray Castle.

Whilst having second thoughts about their mission, a C.I.A. agent performing a Punch and Judy show reminds them of their duty. In the distance is the bridge over the River Aray to the north of Inveraray Castle.

Andy McArthur pointed his lens towards the Aray Bridge in the distance that carries the A38 over the River Aray as it flows into Loch Fyne. Also known as the Inveraray Bridge, the structure was Category A listed in 1971.

The two head for a nearby castle suspecting that Sir John and Hicklar are inside. In the distance stands Dunderave Castle on the shore of Loch Fyne to the north-east of Inveraray in Argyll & Bute.

Dunderave Castle was featured in author Neil Munro's novel Doom Castle and has changed hands over the centuries. Andy adds that in 1912 restoration work ended years of disrepair and in the 1980s work was undertaken to convert the castle to a luxury hotel. It is currently in private ownership.

After the final auction at which Sir John and Dr. Hicklar take diamonds in payment, Sidney and Gerald escape from the castle. The porch to the Great Hall of Penshurst Place, Penshurst in Kent. A footbridge is negotiated, causing consternation for pedestrians.

Having taken a wrong turn, Sir John brings the Volkswagen Golf to a halt. The sign is real and this is Inveraray Woollen Mill next to the Argyle Hotel on Front Street in Inveraray, Argyle & Bute.

Listed buildings don't change and Andy McArthur advises that most of the buildings on Front Street are listed.

Dr. Hicklar remarks that it doesn't look much like Switzerland. Front Street, Inveraray with The Argyll Hotel in the background. The hotel and other views of Front Street appear in 'Fantômas contre Scotland Yard' and as back projections in 'Storm in a Teacup' while an aerial shot of the town appears in 'The Three Lives of Thomasina'.

Again no changes to the buildings in Andy's comparison.

The Town house, a Category A listed building, has been converted to residential flats with commercial space on the ground floor and Andy McArthur found that the Tourist information Office currently operates at this address.

Andy tells us that Inveraray is steeped in naval history with Naval vessels being stationed on Loch Fyne during conflicts and the George Hotel displays many ships badges gifted over the years. Polish soldiers were also billeted outside the town in what is now Battlefield Caravan Park formerly the Duke's Camp. The sea front along with other areas of the coast line was used as a training ground for the Normandy Landings of D Day 6th of June 1944.

Hyde tells the pair that the diamonds from the auction were fake and that the ones from the deposit box have to be kept to pay for the operation. Cross Green, Inveraray. The location was seen as a back projection in 'Storm in a Teacup'.

Andy McArthur informs us that in the screen capture the name of the hotel is the Argyll Hotel but the lettering now reads The Inveraray Inn. The building was designed by William Adam and opened for business in 1755, the same day as the local court house. Famous guests include Robert Burns, Dorothy Wordsworth, Doctor Samuel Johnson and James Boswell. Where ever you find a group of Scots having a sing song you'll more than likely hear the folk song "It's a nice wee inn the Inveraray Inn".

In the far distance Andy McArthur captured the Clyde Puffer 'The Vital Spark' berthed at Inveraray Pier. The ship, which featured in the BBC Scotland comedy show 'The Tales of Para Handy', was built by Dunston's of Thorne, Yorkshire in November 1943 for the Royal Navy as a supply vessel. Used extensively around the Scottish islands, the Clyde Puffers could beach at high tide and float off on the following high tide after their cargo was unloaded.
