Paltrow exits Embankment on her way to work via a deli and an off-licence to replace some drinks, borrowed from her office.

Elevated shot of Embankment tube, London WC2, but off-angle as it's taken from the old Hungerford Bridge. SJ

Finally an improved angle taken from Victoria Embankment. SJ

Here's the deli stop at which she'll work in one of her split universes. The Regent Snack and Milk Bar was a classic café at 362 Edgware Road, W2, which closed and became a Chicken Cottage and is now called Chicking. Rightway though with its blue awning has been there since 1995.

The new look today on the north-east side of the road, after the destruction of the Milk Bar in 2002. SJ

Now equipped with replacement bottles, she arrives at work.

The Corn Exchange, 55 St Mark's Lane, London EC3. SJ

Fired, and, with her world split into two timelines depending on whether she caught the train or not, Paltrow oddly finds herself here.

This is Melcombe Place, NW1, outside the Landmark Hotel and opposite Marylebone station looking west towards Harewood Avenue and Row, and indeed my third attempt at securing a decent angle. Also seen in A Hard Day's Night and Eye of the Needle among others. SJ

After an attempted mugging, a kindly taxi driver takes her to hospital.

Paltrow is amused by Hannah outside the tube station. This is the soon-to-be-blonde version who catches her boyfriend doing the naughty... Possibly, just maybe Fulham Broadway before redevelopment, muse both J Horswell and I.

Confirmed by Douglas Ray who took this. (SJ)

Tripplehorn leaves Lynch and Paltrow's flat with a certain haste.

39 Leinster Square W2, looking east. SJ

Meanwhile the Paltrow, who missed the train and has been mugged, returns, unaware of Lynch's infidelity, to their flat.

Calfe House on the corner of Leinster Square and Prince's Square, W2. SJ

A place of contemplation for the Paltrow who did catch the train and caught Lynch and Tripplehorn at it. Albert Bridge.

Peter admits that his modern view is a little off angle.

Lynch goes round to Turner's to look for Paltrow.

This is the south-west side of Primrose Gardens NW3 looking towards England's Lane. They are almost indistinguishable on the ground storey but I counted from the second storey. SJ

Turner and Paltrow share a consoling night out on the town. Bertorelli's, Charlotte Street.

Peter found changes at the restaurant.

Paltrow and Hannah share some time in a diner. This is Fat Boy's Diner when it was based in Liverpool Street EC2.

Dark Paltrow delivers sandwiches to Tripplehorn's work-place in W1.

There were two glossy 66 Chiltern Street signs on the north side. This shows the one further east close to Paddington Street Gardens. But by 2014 the office block had been demolished so when this title was published on site in 2017 this comparison was already out of date! SJ

Looking west along Paddington Street as it becomes Crawford Street with Chiltern Street on the corner. The office building has now become Chiltern Place - apartments with a restaurant on the ground floor.

Lynch heads for the "library" but Paltrow has her suspicions.

The corner of St Philip Square and Thackeray Road, SW8. I discovered this when researching Rude Boy several years ago. SJ

Paltrow is indeed suspicious.

This is the corner of St Philip Square and Queenstown Road, SW8, diagonally opposite the above. SJ

Lynch susses her and does indeed visit a library, but it appears to be elsewhere from the above... After many years Steve Randall has solved this one identifying the entrance to Mountford Mansions, 100 Battersea Park Rd, London SW11. (SJ)

Spot on. SJ

Hannah visits his ailing mother McKenna. imdb suggests Chilworth Manor in Surrey, but this is all we see of it.

The blonde Paltrow visits her bank for a start-up loan for her new PR company... 214 High Holborn near the Princess Louise Sam Smiths pub. A NatWest then and now. Thanks to Tom Weaver for identifying this. (SJ)

214 High Holborn it is. SJ

The darker Paltrow takes a stroll with best friend Turner.

Good old Hammersmith Bridge, London W6, again. SJ

Lynch and Tripplehorn take a similar stroll in the same location.

The Rutland Arms W6. SJ

Lynch spots the blonde Paltrow in the pub celebrating Hannah's rowing success on the water.

The Blue Anchor only a couple of doors down from the Rutland Arms. SJ

Tripplehorn is somewhat fed up with Lynch's continued interest in Paltrow.

Looking from the Blue Anchor forecourt east towards beloved Hammersmith Bridge. SJ

Paltrow handles the PR for an opening. All Saint's Road, W11.

The door and window arrangements remain the same. 6-8 All Saints Road is currently The Little Yellow Door, a cocktail bar and restaurant, but has been The Rum Kitchen, The Hurlingham Bar and The Ruby & Sequoia Bar. SJ

Lynch and Tripplehorn take a break in "Dorset," actually Dorney Court in Buckinghamshire which can also be seen in 'Father Came Too', 'Number 13', 'The Missionary', 'The Black Cat', 'Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels' and 'Norbert Smith: A Life'.

And there was a film crew at work on my brief visit. SJ

But the interior is the Sullivan Suite at the Grim's Dyke hotel in Harrow. The weekend does not go well.

One of Paltrow's haunts. As this site was being developed, Fat Boy's moved east a couple of hundred yards to inside Spitalfields Market for a while and thence to Trinity Buoy Wharf E14.

And here it is now in its current home opposite the Millennium Dome across the Thames. SJ

Paltrow about to bump into Hannah after taking time away from him... Found by Katharine Muir. From the corner of Wyndham Place looking west down York Place, W1.

The parade over 20 years later. SJ

The reverse pov... now found by Katharine, see above.

I turned around and here we are. SJ

Paltrow finds out that Hannah is married.

Paltrow arrives in a taxi opposite the hospital where Hannah is visiting McKenna ... This is Great Ormond Street, found by Derek Harris.

And Derek provides a nice match noting that the eye-catching door of 59 Great Ormond Street is now painted grey. SJ

And sees Hannah with another woman. That Hospital sign does not look particularly convincing, although this is looking north along Powis Place from the previous capture.

Works are ongoing to spoil the view. I reckon the sign was covered up by the generic "Hospital" for the film. SJ

Hannah at Turner's flat looking for Paltrow.

Looking northwest along Primrose Gardens towards Belsize Grove NW3. SJ

He also tries the favourite haunt of the diner.

The current view from a bus. SJ

A bit dark still even after lightening. That's a 29 on the pillar behind... long standing puzzle now solved!

David Skone has identified the location as The Queens Court Law building, 29 Lincoln Inn Fields, WC2. The telephone box, if it was real, is no longer there. The street to the left is Newman’s Row. And here is his proof. (SJ)

Paltrow paces through the hospital which both versions have attended. Chelsea and Westminster, Fulham Road SW6.

Taken by Douglas Ray (SJ)

And waits by the lift. Who could be inside? The Spanish Inquisition?

Douglas again (SJ)
