If you have any information regarding this production, the locations or, even better, some comparison shots please contact us. Images submitted must be in Landscape orientation, as would be seen on the cinema screen, not Portrait.

We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. Please do not forward additional screen captures to us but bring the detail to our attention, for we do, and are, 're-addressing' these older entries as time allows.

  • 'Now' required

Professor Hasdane (Tony Quinn) leaves his home with the pen bombs and ancillary equipment. Unknown location.

  • 'Now' required

The view leaving his front gate. Should he turn left or right? Building and white fence to the left of the grass. Unknown location.

  • 'Now' required

He decides that he should set off right and we cut to an Army Camp. Unknown location.

  • 'Now' required

Where he is clearly known and he is relieved of his case. Further shot to assist the location.

After his lecture and demonstration of one of the exploding pens Prof. Hasdane heads into London. Westbourne Terrace, London W2

Rather more congested now.

......and is about to enter No 35 when he realizes that he has left his case in the taxi. Westbourne Terrace again.

I think John's idea of another website, ReelVehicles, could catch on.

He waves in vain as the taxi drives off. Westbourne Terrace from the corner with Craven Road.

Those trees have certainly matured.

He makes his way to the nearest telephone box, there must surely have been one nearer to him! Lancaster Gate, London W2

So was that box a prop?

Sammy (Harry Fowler) pulls up and exits a taxi in which he found the Prof’s suitcase returning to his place of work, The Cygnet Club, White Horse Street, London W1

The "alley" no longer exists but at the time was known as Slaughter House Yard.

Sammy sends club hostess Jackie (Patti Morgan) off with the case to a local pawnbroker. Shepherd Street, London W1

The London Hilton on Park Lane now dominates the background.

  • 'Now' required

The Professor traces the cab and is driven to the address that Sammy gave earlier. Continuity is good and this is an unnamed alley serving 11 White Horse Street.

Having “fenced” the suitcase and contents Sammy is keen to recover it as there is now a reward. The pen he finds out has been sold to a Mr Briggs of the local church. Christ Church, Lancaster Gate, London.

Now an apartment block called "Spire House".

Sammy hastily exits a bell ringing session having retrieved the pen when it drops to the floor. Christ Church, Lancaster Gate, London.

That notice says "STOP"!

Sammy casts an eye to the bell tower as he hurries away. Christ Church, Lancaster Gate, London.

Well someone must have approved the design.

A further capture for the purposes of history.

History cannot be re-written.

He makes his way back to the club where he works. Hertford Street, London W1

The background property has had some changes.

Which way to go? The corner of Hertford Street and Market Mews, London W1

Very much an "eastern" feel now.

A bit off sequence but he finds himself in Shepherd’s Market, London W1 outside “Ye Grapes” where he drops the pen which is retrieved by the blind man. The Grapes on Shepherd Market also features in ‘Escape from Broadmoor’ while other parts of Shepherd Market and the surrounding streets appear in 'Murder Without Crime', ‘Maytime in Mayfair’, ‘Follow Me’, ‘Stage Fright’, 'Night, After Night, After Night' and ‘Monsieur Ripois’.

It was good to be back at "Ye Grapes" again after all these years.

Exhausted from his run he stops to catch his breath. Shepherd Market and White Horse Street, London W1.

"The Kings Arms" has changed its façade.

Where he finds that he has dropped the pen. The Kings Arms on Shepherd Market.

A wider shot to cover the changes.

He sets off to confront the “blind man”.

I suppose he would still have had a clear run today.

The “blind man” makes a run for it. Shepherd Market, London W1

The "café culture" continues.

The chase brings some traffic to an halt. Hertford Street, London W1

Well, it was bedlam most of the time!

The “blind man” runs into the arms of a policeman. Shepherd Street, London W1.

These days it is called a Hair and Beauty Salon.

In an instant he finds himself approaching West End Central police station, Savile Row, London W1. The police station also features in ‘I Don't Want to Be Born’ and 'The Flesh is Weak'.

From a similar viewpoint.

Sammy also suddenly find himself in Savile Row on the corner with New Burlington Street, London W1 and the old Ministry of Health building.

The site has since been redeveloped.

Sammy waits until the “blind man” is released and follows him. The side of Savile Row police station and as the sign says approaching Old Burlington Street, W1

Probably the same bollard.

The “blind man” and Sammy are slowed once again when they are confronted by a policeman. Coach and Horses Yard off Old Burlington Street in London W1

It all looks more cluttered now.

Sammy catches the “blind man”….... Shepherd Market from Shepherd Street.

Hence why I found this difficult to locate.

The passageway running south from Curzon Street to Shepherd Market through Curzonfield House.

The same passageway. (PW)

……..seizes the pen and runs off.

Now more for alfresco dining.

As a result of events Prof. Hasdane uncovers the drug business run from the Cygnet Club by the owner Mr Hunter (Sydney Tafler) and accomplice Lightened to aid identification. With thanks to "sandgrounder" of Britmovie Forum who identifies this as Stanley Crescent, London W11 at the junction with Kensington Park Gardens.

I don't believe that was ever "Belvedere Court", well it certainly didn't help me identify the location!

They progress further through London. Lightened to aid identification. Stanley Crescent, London W11 looking towards Kensington Park Gardens near the junction with Stanley Gardens with thanks to "sandgrounder" of Britmovie Forum.

Those trees certainly restrict the background view now.

Lightened to aid identification. Still Stanley Crescent, London W11 says "sandgrounder" of Britmovie Forum but looking towards Ladbroke Gardens.

I don't think that parking a caravan there these days would go down too well.

That distinctive "church" roof in the background helped to aid identification. Spanish Place, London W1 looking north away from Manchester Square, identified by SJ in an "inspired" moment aided by St James's RC Church.

Looking north along from Manchester Square with the Wallace Collection to the left. Picture by Peter.
