Craig and Stephanie Sigman are in disguise and Mexico City for the Day of the Dead celebrations. About to duck into the Gran Hotel, Avenue 16 de Septiembre 82, Mexico City, also seen in Licence to Kill... Ian Johnson clarifies that this is actually the Calle de Tacuba, close to the National Art Museum, and that the entrance to the Gran Hotel was cleverly edited. (SJ)

A shiny new MI5 building, again trickery but the tower on the left is genuine. SW1

Building work interferes once again, and this would benefit from a shot on the river but this is the reality from in front of SIS/MI6 on Albert Embankment. SJ

Craig and Kinnear make their entry to MI6 just to the left of Millbank Tower.

Looks like some more CGI, as I can't see a storm outlet there: this shot I had to move to the left to show the wall. This was taken from Vauxhall Bridge next to Fiona Lewis who was filming Killing Eve part II. SJ... MIchael Bradley solves the conundrum explaining that it's cinematic trickery: a combination of a bridge at Camden Lock on the bottom half of the capture, and Millbank on the top half. The wall, extended past the pier, is all CGI from Camden Lock. (SJ)

Stealing Whishaw's prototype Aston Martin DB10, the action switches to Italy as Craig drives to his Mexico City victim's funeral. This is the Porto di San Pancrazio looking east towards the Via Garibaldi and over Rome from Via San Pancrazio.

A chase when Bautista abducts Seydoux. Obertilliach, south central Austria near the Italian border.

The camera tilts down to towards Craig and Seydoux on the trail of L'Américain in Tangier, Morocco... and Manuel Gurtner/MG adds, "The faded advertisement on the top left of the house wall refers to the opposite Restaurant Populaire 'Le Saveur du Poisson', located at 2 Escalier Waller. By the way, just around the corner the famous El Minzah Hotel can be found, opened in 1930. But the steeply rising Medina on the left and the Tangier Bay in the distance are merely CGI (Computer Generated Imagery), as the comparison shot reveals."

Adrian Turner was in Tangier recently and took this shot of the Escallier Waller from street level.

Walking through the Medina, Bond and Madeleine take the steps up from the Kasbah . . . Pinpointed by PW, this is the junction of Rue Sidi Hassani and Rue Bab Assa with La Terraza de la Medina restaurant to the left.

While Madeleine walks purposefully towards the reception, Bond makes sure that no- one has followed them. The interior shot at the lobby was taken in the now Palais Akaaboune, located at 32 Rue Ben Abbou and available for private hire. MG

  • 'Now' required

An impressive view from the Medina over the Bay of Tangier at night, possibly with the help of CGI. The notable building on the right edge could be the Akaaboune Palace, which is located near the Bab el-Assa and the Kasbah Museum, but this has not yet been verified. MG

Oujda. The Oriental Desert Express is seen with the town in the background. IJ, & MG adds, "Indeed Oujda, standing in for Tangier, as Bond and Madeleine leave aboard the overnight train and head for the desert in the search of the Spectre headquarters. But in fact, the aerial shot shows a special train, chartered by the Moroccan State Railways (ONCF), leaving the city towards Fez. The train consists of Co'Co' diesel loco of ONCF Class DH-370 from General Motors, three Corail type coaches and a generator car and just passed by the current triangular track built to bypass the Oujda terminus towards the Algerian border. CGI was obviously used again here, where on the one hand the train was extended to a total of seven carriages and on the other hand the silhouette of the city was changed by filling the area of the triangular track with houses on the left side and adding additional buildings in places on the right side."

  • 'Now' required

At Béni Oukil station, about 16 km outside of Oujda, the 300 km long stretch across the desert to Bouarfa branches off as part of the original planned Mediterranean-Niger Railway, which finally already ended in Béchar (Algeria). We see again the chartered special train, fitted with an external camera to enable shots along the track, which were used for the compartment scene with Craig and Seydoux. Here again the overnight train is expanded to seven carriages using CGI, based on the ONCF long-distance trains between Oujda and Rabat. MG

  • 'Now' required

The sheltering sky above the overnight train in the middle of nowhere. Since 2006, a privately chartered tourist train, called 'Train du Désert', has been running from Oujda to Bouarfa, later promoted as 'Oriental Desert Express'. At the time of filming, the train comprised two air-conditioned 1st and 2nd class coaches of the Corail type, a generator car with kitchen compartment and an old B10 coach (type K2, formerly Belgian State Railways) with opening windows, which is particularly popular with photographers. Later, a sleeping car (type T2, formerly French State Railways) was temporarily added. But for operational reasons, no more than four carriages are permitted with only one loco. MG

  • 'Now' required

After a fight to the death with Spectre henchman Hynx in the baggage car, Bond and Madeleine alight the train in the middle of the desert. As is usual with Bond films, the train scenes are not particularly authentic. The preceding fight scenes with Craig and Bautista immediately suggest that they are made on the Pinewood sound stage, as the clearance profile of the dining car seems to correspond more to Russian broad-gauge vehicles. The baggage car mock up for the short exterior shot is also unconvincing, because of the property master seems to have been more based on a US model, combined with a few European attributes. Also the filming location cannot yet be determined with certainty. MG

  • 'Now' required

The train stop where Craig and Seydoux await a Rolls Royce to pick them up. Sadly but probably a set... Ian adds, "This was filmed close to Erfoud. It seems reasonably certain that this was a location set build as Erfoud is not connected to the railway network. The rear of the railway carriage seen in the film is known to have been constructed on location and manually towed. The rest is CGI etc."

The tunnel on Castle Baynard Street (which runs under the Millennial Bridge northern approach). M and Bond are seen driving along the tunnel in M’s Jaguar shortly before it is rammed by a 4x4 pickup. (IJ)

Standing safely on the walkway, Ross Hamilton took this view of the same scene.

And all ends happily. (I could have grabbed Vauxhall Cross and Westminster Bridge scenes but they appeared far too dark and CGI-ish). Nice shot of the iconic number-plate BMT 216A but the original DB5 remains missing after its 1997 theft from Florida... and Ian adds that this would be outside 55 Whitehall, the roof of which was seen in Skyfall. (SJ)
