If you have any information regarding this production, the locations or, even better, some comparison shots please contact us. Images submitted must be in Landscape orientation, as would be seen on the cinema screen, not Portrait.
We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. Please do not forward additional screen captures to us but bring the detail to our attention, for we do, and are, 're-addressing' these older entries as time allows.

In the opening scenes we see Alfred Salteena (Jim Broadbent) walking through the subway at "Blackfriers" station. This is the subway at Horsted Keynes railway station, Haywards Heath in West Sussex on the preserved Bluebell Railway. The subway can also be seen in 'The Beast in the Cellar' whilst other parts of the station feature in ‘Adolf Hitler, My Part in His Downfall’, 'Hope and Glory', 'Mr. Holmes' and 'Savage Messiah’.

John Harwood found a lighter subway. (SJ)

. . . via the footbridge followed by other gentlemen on their way home. Sheffield Park station on the Bluebell railway.

With thanks to Mike, Sheffield Park station Foreman who advised me that the bridge, installed in 1985, came from Lingfield Park Station. Additionally, the now single pole light holder is very recent, indeed only currently held in place with "G" clamps, but he couldn't remember whether the previous more attractive double pole with embellishments 'required' to be replaced or had not been replaced having been removed by a previous filming company. Another shot of Alfred and the following gentlemen crossing the footbridge at "Blackfriers". This is also on the preserved Bluebell Railway, at Sheffield Park railway station, Uckfield, East Sussex.

If someone has the opportunity to take a comparative shot from a more accurate angle and without a train in the station, I will be happy to have this shot replaced. (RL)

Off to visit his friend, Alfred and Ethel arrive at "Rickamere". John Harwood, wearing his Bluebell Railway member hat, proposes that this is one station further down the line from Horsted Keynes, namely Kingscote on Vowels Lane, Kingscote in West Sussex.

John took this matching view.

At "Rickamere", Alfred leans out of the train window, whilst a group of railway porters sing a short medley. This is the Bluebell Railway's Kingscote railway station near East Grinstead in West Sussex identified by John Harwood.

Although very similar to Horsted Keynes, John H. suggests the subway is a giveaway for Kingscote. (SJ)

Outside "Rickamere" station, Alfred and Ethel wait in their carriage for their luggage to be loaded. This is outside Kingscote railway station, recognised by John Harwood.

And John again cites the postbox as the giveaway. (SJ)

Passing by workers in the field, Alfred and Ethel arrive at "Rickamere House". Looking towards Harlaxton Manor, Grantham, Lincolnshire NG32.

A little blurry so replaceable. Now belonging to the University of Evansville, there are occasional pricey open days. SJ

"Rickamere House" is, in reality, Harlaxton Manor near Grantham.

Harlaxton Manor was also seen in The Ruling Class, Little Lord Fauntleroy, The Last Days of Patton, The Lady and the Highwayman and The Haunting (1999), as well as being my wedding reception venue. SJ
