Diana’s Memories – ‘Violent Playground’
Diana shares her memories of watching the filming:
“I was working in the record department of Rushworth and Dreaper’s Music Store which was in Islington, Liverpool, facing Lime Street: ( R&D was eventually demolished to make way for one of the Mersey tunnel entrances). The Music Store backed onto Gerard Gardens and its flats and I recall going out in one of my lunchtimes where I stood directly next to David McCallum, who was wearing a red check shirt, and possibly the Director on his chair with the cameras near enough to touch. The flats’ balconies were draped with washing lines filled with clothes and I commented to someone next to me, ‘ the washing is a bit over the top, it’s far too much’. Within a short time I saw staff rushing along the balconies whisking piles of it off the lines. Nice to have had some input.”
