Kitchen, The

At the end of a busy night in the kitchen, Peter (Carl Möhner) catches up with his girlfriend Monica (Mary Yeomans) as she walks away from the restaurant where they both work.

After a few words, the two part company and a tired Monica heads back to her husband Monty.

Find one and the others often follow, here is Dave almost at the junction with Mornington Street. The eucalyptus and ivy are hiding some details. (RL)

Peter calls "I love you" before turning and making his own way home. The public house to the left is named 'Victoria'.

Here was Dave facing the other way and on the corner of Mornington Place outside the former VICTORIA pub, now converted to residential. (RL)

During the afternoon break in service, Monica and Peter head away from their workplace. The corner of Charlotte Street and Colville Place in London W1.

As Dave says, the telephone box has been replaced by bollards and you'll need to go elsewhere to buy Typhoo. He didn't mention that the "bookies" extreme right was closed as a result of equine flu. (RL)

Without dialogue, the two reach the corner of Tottenham Court Road and New Oxford Street in W1.

Dave preferred to leave it later in the day to introduce a little "mood" to his shot. (RL)

The pair pause to look through a window where a chef is preparing food.

Instantly recognised by Dave W as the Charing Cross Road, London WC2 and what was the Jacey Cinema but now 'The Montagu Pyke' public house. It is so called as Mr Pyke was the owner of the original cinema on the site but Dave adds "Poor bloke was convicted and bankrupted when his premises caught fire; an electrician was left to do work in the basement store which was full of flammable film stock!" This is St. Martin's Place with the globe of the Coliseum Theatre to the top and the Edith Cavell Memorial to the right.

The lovers head for a bench to sit down where Peter broaches the subject of Monica getting a divorce. To the left stand buildings at the corner of Northumberland Avenue while on the right is Whitehall with the Victoria Tower of Westminster Hall in the distance.
