If you have any information regarding this production, the locations or, even better, some comparison shots please contact us. Images submitted must be in Landscape orientation, as would be seen on the cinema screen, not Portrait.

We are aware that there are films on the site that were added when the criteria for the inclusion of locations was very different from today and, as a result, there may be scenes missing from some productions. Kedleston Hall, Quarndon, Derbyshire stands in for Althorp. Also seen in 'Women in Love'.

The Old Royal Naval College SE10 once again standing in for London street scenes.

Those steps featured in an assassination in The Thirty Nine Steps (1979). SJ

Knightley and Fiennes's marriage is celebrated with public enthusiasm.

Bit puzzling this one as I couldn't work in the left mid-foreground of the original. Maybe a bit of CGI. But the background does look like the west side of Queen Anne's Court, SE10. SJ

The carriage turns into Fiennes' Devonshire House in London, played by Somerset House, WC2.

A much-loved location. SJ

Looking north at Somerset House.

A bit more clutter here. SJ

Knightley alights.

The view east. SJ

She enters but now we switch to the Marble Hall of Holkham Hall.

Sent in by Phil Gray who matched the Holkham Hall shots in a useful visit.

The Palladian-style Holkham Hall is in Norfolk, also seen in Shakespeare in Love, Glorious 39 and Shadows in the Sun.

Phil again. (SJ: not sure how elegant that dividing handrail is)

The drawing room of Kedleston Hall, Derbyshire, the exterior of which was seen in capture 1. Identified by Bridget Carrington who reognised the distinctive blue wallpaper as well as the picture between the doors.

As the caption says.

Slightly off angle. SJ

Tea Room, Bath Assembly Rooms. The exterior was seen in '80,000 Suspects'.

Back at Kedleston.

Not completely sure... at first but see the now.

Totally sure thanks to Phil who tells us that this is looking from the Palladian entrance (the ‘back’ of Holkham Hall seen earlier) over the fountain to the gap in the trees with obelisk in the centre. (SJ)

Back in Greenwich, I believe.

Once again to Somerset House.

Very similar view to capture 5. SJ

Another shot of the interior of Holkham Hall.

Phil's shot again. (SJ)

The cascade and River Wye at West Wycombe Park, Buckinghamshire.

Malcolm Tinnelly leaned over a newly positioned "safety" fence for this shot. (SJ)

Cooper and Knightley share romance.

Malcolm enjoys his day out at this NT property and adds this shows the bridge over the "Cascade", featured in the previous capture. (SJ)

Still at West Wycombe Park. The Temple of Music, among the park's follies seen in 'The Black Cat', 'Give My Regards To Broad Street', 'The Hippopotamus', 'Another Country', 'To the Devil a Daughter', 'White Hunter Black Heart', 'The Music Lovers' and 'The Young Visiters'.

Malcolm again. (SJ)

And again.

Malcolm found that the overhanging branch has grown since filming. (SJ)

  • 'Now' required

The Marble Hall of Clandon Park House, Surrey, damaged by fire but on the way to restoration.

Greenwich SE10 ever reliable.

Alongside King William Court, looking south. I think the far end of the colonnade was blocked up. SJ

  • 'Now' required

The floor of the Marble Hall in Kedleston. Knightley's wig is about to catch fire.

  • 'Now' required

Chatsworth House, Derbyshire

  • 'Now' required

A clearer exterior of the Duchess of Devonshire's spread at Chatsworth.

The Holburne Museum, Bath, also seen in 'Vanity Fair' and 'Two and Two Make Six'.

And here it is on a wet June day. SJ

The final scene. After researching the location, Adrian Turner identifies this as one of the private gardens at Chatsworth House near Bakewell in Derbyshire, just below the west front of the house adding that garden no longer exists and seems to have been dug out about five years ago. Why they did this is a mystery - it might be a case of box blight - but they also seem to have removed the fountain from the circular pool which is the only thing that remains.
