Phoning Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, a Stranger's gruff voice demands £2000 for the return of their son Michael, kidnapped on his way home from school. Dudley Road in Southall, Middlesex with the long demolished Lord Wolseley public house to the right.
Antony Blair visited the location 55 years later.

In the garden of her terraced house, Rosa Marotta (Isa Miranda) exchanges words with a neighbour Freddy (Patrick Newell) after she finds him chasing her cat. The rear of properties standing on Dudley Road in Southall.

Another neighbour, John Hopta (Dan Duryea) arrives and begins to charm Mrs. Marotta. The rear of properties on Dudley Road with gas holder No. 5 of Southall Gas Works in the right distance.

Picking up pennies that she has dropped, Mrs. Marotta waits outside the telephone box as the Stranger leaves after making another call to the Wilsons. The long removed Post Office paraphernalia at the corner of the corner of Sussex Road and Dudley Road.
The telephone box and post box are confirmed as missing by Antony.

Having traced the call to the corner phone box, Police arrive and take Mrs. Marotta to the Police Station for questioning. Looking towards the north-west along Dudley Road with one of the gasometers belonging to Southall Gas Works in the distance.

Responding to her aunt's call, Mrs. Marotta's niece Trudy (Jean Aubrey) arrives in the street. The corner of Sussex Road and Dudley Road.

Trudy crosses the road but finds her aunt's house empty. Dudley Road in Southall also appears in 'The Gay Dog' and 'One Jump Ahead'.

Rosa Marotta is brought home from the Police Station after telling newspaper Reporters that she has seen the kidnapper. Dudley Road with the Southall Secondary Technical School Annexe at the corner of Featherstone Road in the top left background which also features in 'Miss Robin Hood'.
Antony provides this view looking east on Dudley Road. The long gone school has been replaced with more flats.

When young Michel Wilson's body is found, the television news broadcasts a recording of the killer's voice in the hope that someone may recognise them. The studios of TWW, Television Wales & West, on Bath Road Studios at 470 Bath Road in Brislington, Bristol. The building makes a brief appearance in '80,000 Suspects'.

Mr. Hopta returns home with a newspaper that leads with a front page story about the kidnapping. The junction of Dudley Road and Sussex Road.

Accidentally poisoning Mrs. Moretta's cat instead of it's owner, Mr. Hopta joins Rosa and Detective Sergeant Bob Connor (Barry Warren) at the animal's burial site. The rear of properties on Dudley Road, Southall in Middlesex with still extant factory buildings in the background.
