Metropolitan Line – Locos

Dave Buckley advises that ‘Sarah Siddons’, seen in Capture 12, is one of only two of a total of 20 such trains used by the Metropolitan Railway that survives. The other, is No 5 ‘John Hampden’ that is preserved by the London Transport Museum. No 12 he says is the only one in full working order.

Apart from Nos 15, 17, 19, and 20 (which were withdrawn early due to various reasons), all the remaining locos were withdrawn in 1962 after electrification to Amersham was completed.
