Yvonne’s Filming Memories

Yvonne, who appeared in the film as Susie, has provided us with more background information with regard to her involvement and that of Manadon Vale Primary School adding to the memories of Susan Allin included in the Header Section of the film.
She was chosen for the part, the girl leader, when she was at the school aged eight. The two girls in the capture above were actually a year ahead of her at the School.
Yvonne has very kindly agreed to share with us the letter her parents received regarding her involvement in the film providing a fascinating and detailed account of all the necessary arrangements. She did indeed attend Pound House when she wasn’t filming and particularly remembers jumping in puddles and receiving a set of Encyclopaedias at the end of filming. The set was inscribed thanking her for jumping into the puddles so well!
Somewhere, she says, she has a photograph of the three girls sitting on some steps with Brenda Bruce……..we sincerely hope that she finds it! She has!

Happy memories of filming in the early morning on the beach at Plymouth Hoe, sitting talking to Desmond Davis, are also rekindled.
