  • 'Now' required

As the caption reads, London in 1946 where Cardew from the Foreign Office meets with Canadian war veteran Colonel John Graham as he works on breaking codes.

John's beloved wife Carol drives him to his old school. Di continues her identification of "all things Windsor" to tell us that this is Common Lane, Eton in Berkshire looking towards the junction with Windsor Road. (RL)

The same corner. (SR)

A light illuminates in the Headmaster's window.

Getting out of the car, John (Robert Preston) and Carol Graham (Elizabeth Sellars) walk towards the building. Common Lane, Eton according to Di. (RL)

The same tree. (SR)

From a different source, a fuzzy capture that was cut from the better print shows the background buildings as the pair continue towards the school. Common Lane, Eton once more Di points out. The College also features in ‘The Madness of King George’, 'Shakespeare in Love', ‘Fun at St. Fanny's’, ‘The Fourth Protocol’ and ‘Chariots of Fire’. (RL)

The scene today. (SR)

The camera pans with John and Carol in another fuzzy image. Not too fuzzy for Di who confirms Common Lane, Eton once more, virtually where the car came to a halt earlier. (RL)

The courtyard behind the gates is also seen in 'Arabesque'. (SR)

Arm in arm the couple walk towards the quad and into the cloister. Di Davies identifies this as Eton College, Windsor in Berkshire. (RL)

It's an archway in the same courtyard. (SR)

From a little way ahead, John watches the police car come to a stand after running over a 'tyre burster' set in the road.
