The day in question is during Hitler’s visit to Rome in May 1938 when almost the whole of Rome turns out for parades to celebrate, except for a resigned housewife and fired radio announcer who stay home and meet for the first and last time. SJ

Mastroianni envelopes Loren in a sheet, supposed to be on the rooftop of their apartment block. Explained in the dvd extras, the crew travelled south-west a little to film this on the rooftop of Pronto Soccorso Odontoiatrico G. Eastman, (dental hospital) between Viale Regina Ellena and Via Alfonso Borelli near Policlinico Metro. This is looking south.
