The opening shots are of Captain Wilson (Roger Livesey) walking up to the door of a large house. Lindsay Scot identified the location as Little Easton Manor, Great Dunmow, Essex.
Like a lot of old manors, this is now an events venue with accommodation. This image of the previously unidentified location is taken from TripAdvisor under fair usage and remains copyright with the creator.

A small group of sailors steal themselves ashore in Spain whilst their ship is anchored off the coast. Another location spotted by Lindsay Scott, this is "Lano's Bridge" in Tout Quarry, Portland, Dorset.

A group of Napoleonic soldiers out looking for a wanted Italian desperado on the coast of Spain. This is not Spain, it is on the Isle of Portland in Dorset. The clue to this is the abundance of quarried stone seen in much of the movie.
Lindsay Scott visited and located this location for all of us. It is in the West Weares area of Portland, Dorset.

A horse and carriage races along. Again this is the Isle of Portland, acting as Spain.
Again Lindsay Scott found this location in the West Weares area of Portland. It is amazing that not much has change since 1935!

The same horse and carriage dashing along. Various parts of Portland appear in many other films including 'The Damned', 'The Bulldog Breed'', 'Out of Season', 'The Small Back Room', 'Savage Messiah', 'Further Up the Creek', 'Morning Departure', 'Night of the Big Heat' and 'The Key'.
Another amazing location find by Lindsay Scott. The two cut Portland Limestone blocks still there today. Again the West Weares area of Portland in Dorset.

Racing to find the Italian desperado are three horsemen. This is The Isle of Portland Circle Walk which is now part of the South West Coast Path.
I wish I had been with Lindsay Scott taking these photos. What a day of discovery it must have been. Again this in in the West Weares area of Portland, Dorset.

The Napoleonic soldiers again. The evidence of quarried stone leads to the filming locations in this movie.
Lindsay Scott went back to West Weares, Portland, Dorset to take this now capture. The blocks of Portland Stone centre right are still there as in the movie. The only real difference is the path the soldiers rode down in the movie has collapsed.

A group of desperadoes run along the cliff top. This man-made feature of Portland Stone is on the South West Coastal path on the Isle of Portland a few minutes walk north of Blacknor Fort on the western side of the isle.
Portland Stone has been quarried on the Isle of Portland since the days of the Roman invasion of Britain. It has been widely used throughout Britain but no place more so than London. The strength and quality of the stone is shown in this now capture by Lindsay Scott. The stone arch in the movie stands today almost as it did in 1935 in the West Weares area of Portland, Dorset.
