Accompanied by a swing soundtrack, the film opens with the titles appearing over a view of New York's Broad Street. Facing north on Broad Street in New York 4, New York with the Bankers Trust Company Building to the centre.

The camera moves to find Miss Hubert (Ruth Lee), Adam Heyward's Secretary. Broad Street with the New York Stock Exchange at the corner of Wall Street to the centre. A clearer view of the Stock Exchange frontage is seen in 'The Man Without a Body'.

Restoration work was continuing when Janette Cotton arrived on the scene.

This is still an active Courthouse, there was a 'NYC Correction Department' bus outside and Paparazzi across the street interviewing a family while Janette Cotton was taking comparisons.

Having read the cable from Mary Baxter telling him that her husband Sam is in big trouble, Adam Heyward (Robert Montgomery) arrives in England.

After paying the taxi driver, the former Army Major looks around the village as he crosses the road.

Adam heads for The Red Lion where he finds the proprietor Mr. Widgery and asks if he has a room available.

Learning that his pal Sam is to be put on trial for the murder of Herbert Lawrence, the American lawyer is directed to the livery stable to find Mary Baxter.

Adam enters the yard at the stables.

Sitting astride Peabody, Catherine Ann Summerfield (Ann Stephens) rides into view.

Having spoken with Mary about her husband, Adam is shown the room where his business partner Lawrence was killed.

Continuing his enquiries, Adam Heyward makes his way to see Colonel Roger Summerfield at the Manor House. The Manor House in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire.

Receiving no answer at the front door, Adam peers through one of the windows. Stoke Poges Manor House, which also appears in ‘Carry On Dick’ and 'The Bawdy Adventures of Tom Jones'.

Reaching the rear of the country house, Adam comes across Alex Summerfield (Patricia Cutts) working in the garden. The garden at The Manor House in Stoke Poges.

After introducing him to her brother-in-law Sir Roger, Alex changes clothes before the two walk over to the church. The Manor House off Park Road in Stoke Poges in Buckinghamshire.

Despite Sir Roger's negative stance, Alex suggests that he was already in the process of obtaining a permit for Adam to enter Lawrence's room at the stables. The Manor House in Stoke Poges.

Adam Heyward and Sam's solicitor Richard Beamish (Harcourt Williams) arrive at the court where the trial is about to begin. Geoff Dodd has identified this as Lincoln's Inn, London WC2 looking towards Newman's Row with the entrance to New Square in the background. To be precise it is the doorway of 'Old Hall' that faces New Square/Old Buildings as seen in the following capture. (RL)

After telling Martin Foxglove K.C. that there is a witness to be found, Adam leaves the court as the Jury are being sworn in. It took a personal visit to establish but this is the doorway in the previous capture, of 'Old Hall', Lincoln's Inn to New Square/Old Buildings. (RL)

Given the severe difficulties of actually capturing a shot, I was quite pleased with this result. (RL)

Outside the court, Adam crosses to a car in which Alex is waiting. Geoff also identifies this, Lincoln's Inn with the Lincoln's Inn War Memorial just left of center. (RL)

Pity about the van, but given the amount of structural work being undertaken in Lincoln's Inn I considered myself fortunate. (RL)

Alex and Adam arrive at the cottage where Jim and Ellen Foster live.

When the front door is knocked, Ellen answers.

Satisfied with Ellen's answer to his questions, Adam leaves the cottage with Alex.

As the trial progresses Adam and Alex meet at the livery stables.

Police Constable Hawkins (John Sharpe) brings the keys to the locked room after Sir Roger obtains a permit.

While speaking with Mr. Widgery in his room at the pub, Adam spots a figure pushing a bicycle as he looks through the window.

After the unknown person enters the stables, Adam sets of in pursuit.

Adam enters the stable yard where Constable Hawkins appears.

Taking the Constable's bike, Adam follows the Stranger.

With the vital witness found and Samuel Baxter (Michael Ripper) acquitted, Mary Baxter (Jenny Laird) walks with Adam to their car as Mr. Widgery (Wylie Watson) follows.

On the way to the airport, Adam stops off at the Manor House and leaves after speaking with Sir Roger. The Manor House off Park Road, Stoke Poges.
