The famous Indian-Chief Winnetou and his white “blood brother” Old Shatterhand help Fred Engel to catch the murder of his father. Colonel Brinkley and his ‘Tramps’, a gang of murderous outlaws, who will stop at nothing to find the legendary treasure of Silver Lake.

Old Shatterhand (Lex Barker) and Winnetou (Pierre Brice) in their first adventure on screen in the 60's. Opening Sequence filmed at Grobnicko polje, near Rijeka (Croatia), nowadays a Racetrack.

Title sequence, filmed at Obrovac, Croatia, shows the Velebit Mountains.

A new freeway was built in the meantime as can be seen across the center.

A stagecoach passes through a Canyon. Paklenica National Park, Starigrad, Croatia.

'Tramps', Colonel Brinkley's band of outlaw's stop the coach and kill all the men. The Colonel, inside the coach, kills Mr. Engel and steals the half treasure map.

Over the years the rocks have become more broken.

The coach arrives in Tulsa. Fred Engel (Götz George) runs to the coach. Filmed in Starigrad Paklenica, Croatia.

Sam Hawkens (Ralf Wolter) and the friends of Old Shatterhand await the Utahs. (Starigrad Paklenica National Park).

The Nature at Plitvice Nationalparc is always changing as a result of a Karst phenomena.

Fred explains the details to the Colonel as to how to reach the Treasure cave.

The 'Tramps' are building a raft. Waterfall “Galovacki buk”. This was the location for the movie poster.

Nothing changed, maybe the colour of the water, but it is clear with many fishes.

The grotto ends after approximately 20 m. The remainder of the scene was filmed in a makeshift studio.

With that, Colonel Brinkley is dropped into the swamp beneath the trap and dies.

From outside The Treasure Cave all appears calm. Lake Kaluderovac.

The Great Wolf and Old Shatterhand separate. Plitvice National Park – Meadow over Lake Kozjak

Filmed on a field in front of Lake Kozjak, today there are substantially more trees and some bushes have appeared in the grass.
