Secret Agent Super Dragon

In Fremont, Michigan USA there is a sudden outbreak of some frenzy amongst students and Bryan Cooper/Super Agent Dragon (Ray Danton) is send out to investigate this case. Agent Fulton (Margaret Lee) brings him this message. Once in Fremont, Bryan finds out that ‘something’ has been smuggled out of Amsterdam in Chinese Ming Vases and is the cause of this local frenzy outbreak. Bryan ascertains that it has something to do with a bubblegum that contains a mysterious drug. All traces lead to Amsterdam. Secret Agent Super Dragon takes his buddy Baby Face (Jess Hahn) with him. Secret Agent Super Dragon takes a walk through the city of Amsterdam. Intersection Leidseplein and Leidsestraat. Almost the same shot and angle can be seen in 'Naakt over de Schutting', capture 15.

Sunday mornings are the best time to take photos in Amsterdam.

He takes a close look at the police station in the center of Amsterdam and is obviously surprised to see some neon advertisement for Coca Cola on top of the building. Former police station, Leidseplein, Amsterdam.

During the time this movie was shot the building in the background used to be a police station; nowadays it is a coffee shop that doesn’t serve coffee.

He asks a Dutch girl if she speaks English. Her answer is more than clear: Nee!! In the background Hotel Americain, Leidsebosje, Amsterdam which can be seen in capture 12 of 'The Fault in Our Stars'.

In the background can be seen the Hotel Americain . On the right of the capture can be seen a part of the old prison that was demolished in the mid-80’s.

What would Holland be without it’s windmills. Even the small ones in the center of Amsterdam. Intersection Oude Turfmarkt and Langebrugsteeg, Amsterdam. The same location as capture 10 in 'Naakt over de Schutting'.

Holland Souvenirs were replaced by Tax Free Diamonds.

And strangely the camera slides into a real windmill outside of the city of Amsterdam. Windmill De Bleeke Dood, Lagedijk 28, Zaandijk

Nothing really changed during the past decades.

Less people in 2021.

We see a mysterious girl walking around and she is followed by numerous of spy like type of men. Manuel Gurtner has put Frank out of his misery and established the location, the pedestrian bridge across the canal between Kooger Park and Museumlaan, located in the municipality Koog aan de Zaan. The building in the background is the first Dutch Windmill Museum opened by Queen Wilhelmina on the 24th May 1928.

Thank you Manuel for keeping Frank sane. He rushed to this location to make a now shot. Unfortunately, the actual museum moved to another location, Kalverringdijk in Zaandam, close to capture Capture 24 and 25 of this film.

Frank's sanity has also been preserved knowing, not only the location, but according to Manuel, Marisa Mell is here approaching the Museum's millstone that was then on display next to the footpath. Frank will naturally soon be providing comparative shots.

Same bridge as seen in Capture 8. Strangely she walks in the direction where she came from but Frank understands why. Because in the direction where she walks it is a very, very narrow passage and that wouldn’t be perfect for the camera position.

Once inside the windmill she makes contact with Bryan Cooper. She is the Bryan’s Dutch. Her name is Charity Farrel (Marisa Mell) and she is followed by a mysterious stranger. She, Bryan and Baby Face are all working on the case of the mysterious Dutch Bubblegum. Windmill Pink, Koog aan de Zaan.

When Frank drove to the location in Koog aan de Zaan he passed by this windmill and he recognised it immediately as the one he saw in the film and that he made a mistake in the beginning. First he thought it was Windmill De Zoeker, Kalverringdijk 31, Zaandam but it turns out it is Windmill the Pink, Pinkstraat 12, Koog aan de Zaan. We all make mistakes once in a while….. And let's not forget Frank how many windmill's you have to chose from.

Bryan and Babyface decide to break into a house that Charity thinks belongs to someone who is involved with the smuggling of the dangerous narcotic in the bubblegum to the USA. Prinseneiland as seen from Nieuwe Teertuinen, Amsterdam

In the 60’s Prinseneiland, Amsterdam was hardly inhabited and were still warehouses. Nowadays there are no warehouses and you only find apartments. Still Prinseneiland is one of the best, beautiful and unknown parts of Amsterdam and so close to the center of town.

Bryan remains on the watch while Babyface breaks open the door. While they are inside an uncredited woman shows up and asks them politely to leave. Once they are outside this woman contacts the mysterious stranger. Nieuwe Teertuinen, Amsterdam

No people on the look out in 2021.

Once they are outside they come to the conclusion that the uncredited woman didn’t belong there either. When she leaves the building Bryan decides to follow her. Nieuwe Teertuinen, Amsterdam

Bikes, plants, boats. It is getting more and more crowded in Amsterdam.

Here she walks over the same bridge that can be seen in the movie 'Amsterdamned'. She sets him up in a trap and it comes to a fight. Unnecessary to say that Bryan wins, of course. Sloterdijkerbrug, Galgenstraat, Amsterdam.

They have another lead and that brings them to the wealthy Fernand Lamas (Carlo D’Angelo) who was friends with the girl in who’s house Bryan and Babyface broke into. He tells them that this girl became a drug addict. Her name is Christine (she is uncredited). While they are leaving, Fernand tells them that Christine was a frequent visitor of Restaurant/Hotel Spaander in Volendam. Landgoed Duin en Kruidberg, Duin en Kruidbergerweg 60, Santpoort

Stadtholder and King William III bought the Kruidberg Estate from Sophia Trip and Daniël Jean Bernard in 1682. Bernard had bought his share from Balthasar Coymans, her brother-in-law. The estate was soon nicknamed 't Princenbosch. The prince used the estate as a hunting lodge and as a smaller version of Het Loo Palace.

Bryan drives to Volendam. Haven in the direction of Havendijkje, Volendam

The boats have become bigger in Volendam and the houses in the background have changed as the years have passed by.

He is looking for Hotel Spaander. Havendijkje, Volendam

An interesting detail to Frank was that he noticed that the buildings on the background nowadays have a wooden green cover (Zaans green).

You cannot visit Volendam and miss Hotel Spaander and he finds it. He talks to the owner and immediately starts to flirt with her. She cannot really help him any further. Hotel Spaander, Haven 15-19, Volendam which can also be seen in 'Puppet on a Chain', capture 19.

Hotel Spaander was a hotel founded in 1881 by Leendert Spaander (1855-1955) at the harbour in Volendam. The hotel was visited by several famous people, including Pierre-Auguste Renoir in 1885, Emperor Wilhelm II in 1921, Elisabeth Taylor in 1975 and Muhammad Ali in 1976. Frank particularly liked the specialty of the house : Volendamse Zooi (Ale in butter sauce). Unfortunately, because of the coronavirus pandemic they have been declared bankrupt recently.

The mysterious stranger enters this factory called Plastifa Research. Inside this highly secured complex is Professor Kruge (Marco Guglielmi). Now we find out that the mysterious man is called Alex (uncredited) and he is ordered to kill Bryan. The Professor needs to perfect the drug. Agent Fulton has arrived in Amsterdam as well and Alex needs to kill both of them. They have traced Christine and she is in a terrible condition in the hospital. She tells about the drug and how dangerous it is, she dies. Location unknown.

Charity cannot take it anymore and she runs away from the hospital. Muntplein in the direction of Reguliersbreestraat, Amsterdam.

In 2021 there is hardly an automobile to be seen, the whole area has recently been made pedestrian friendly.

She runs and she runs…..Zandhoeksbrug as seen from Grote Bickersstraat, Amsterdam

This is on the north side of Prinseneiland, Amsterdam. One of the most beautiful parts of Amsterdam.

It is amazing. She runs all the way to north Amsterdam. Ranonkelkade intersection Distelweg, Amsterdam

For many this location would be very tough to identify. Not for Frank. Almost his entire family comes from this neighbourhood. Piece of cake.

Here she takes a taxi to Plastifa. Is she playing a double role? It turns out that she has to kill Bryan Cooper so that she can get an antidote and get rid of the drug that has been given to her. Bryan gets a tip where they produce the drug and he goes there by night. But it is a trap and after a fight Bryan gets knocked unconscious. Wasknijperbrug, Distelweg, Amsterdam

The buildings in the background on the right were build only a few years ago.

The criminals put Bryan in a coffin to dump him in the canal so he will disappear forever. And so it happens but Bryan manages to open the coffin and escapes. Once at the surface Babyface is waiting to pick him up. Windmill De Zoeker, Kalverringdijk 31 and Verfmolen De Kat Kalverringdijk 29, Zaandam

This is a part of the so called ‘Zaanse schans’ and Frank cannot blame all the tourist who visit this unique Dutch part of history. Yes, indeed it is breath taking beautiful

Unfortunately agent Fulton falls into the hands of the criminals and Charity puts a gun to Bryan Cooper’s head and force him to surrender but he escapes, grabs the gun and shoots Charity in the stomach and she dies. But before she dies she tells Bryan where to find the antidote. He goes there and finds the antidote and the formula and spectacularly escapes by helicopter. The big boss escapes to a windmill that has a secret underground where the control room of the whole operation is. While the gangsters load their suitcases with diamonds Bryan Cooper arrives and eliminates all of them. Operation succeeded! Windmill De Kat, Kalverringdijk 29, Zaandam

So many windmills in Holland.

End good all good and Secret Agent Super Dragon still has some spare time to spend in Holland and he wisely spends it with the beautiful woman he met before in Hotel Spaander. This has been taken from Havendijkje 12 and we are looking at Haven, Volendam

Not the exact same angle and no beautiful woman anywhere to be seen, but still beautiful.
