Class of ’76

Children at school are seen through the credits, towards the end we see them leaving the building. Steve Randall unravels the location mystery advising that it is St.Michael's C of E Primary School, St. Michael's Street, St.Albans, Hertfordshire.

Pat Fisher (Stephen Mapes) re-lives the day when Amy went off to play in the tree house, “she was the first, it happened on a Sunday”. Unknown location.

As he returns to his car, his mobile phone rings, he is forced off the road and his phone flies out of the car window. He calls at a garage. Unknown location.

As he exits the service station building he hears his telephone ring…..it is on the front seat of his car. That send him over the edge and he runs onto the motorway carriageway in front of a lorry. Unknown location.

DI Tom Monroe (Robert Carlyle) starts his investigation where Pat left his car. He is the fourth in the class to die. Unknown location.

DS Steven Grant (Daniel Mays) will be demanding a refund for "the muck" he is having to eat from the service station. Unknown location.

Monroe and Grant visit where Pat lived to hear that he kept himself to himself. Identified by Geoff Dodd as Boyes Crescent, off Goldring Way, London Colney, Hertfordshire.

Monroe goes to visit the site of the first death, that of Amy Evans …..but he never feels alone. Unknown location.

Dropping the photograph of the dead girl, he quickly returns to his car and drives off. Jon advises that this is the bridge/pathway to Two Tree Island that is a small island off Leigh-on-Sea.

Being troubled by shadows he sees on the CCTV from the garage, he returns to the scene to investigate. Unknown location.

Having received an anonymous telephone call from, he believes, fellow classmate Aiden Thompson (Kevin French), Colin Somerville……… The end of the High Street outside 'Leigh Sailing Club'.

People are keen to 'get out' the house.

With the lifting of COVID restrictions the now re-opened restaurant enabled a more interesting shot.

Monroe is invited to dinner by DS Grant and his wife Monica (Amelia Curtis) but soon after arriving they have an argument with regard to another case and Monroe walks out. Unknown location.

Having dwelled on that case and the Class of ’76 in which he now finds himself, he ‘takes off’ leaving Grant so offer any explanation to his superiors……..and water his plants. Unknown location.

Life starting to return to some 'normality'.

The following morning he visits Frank Thompson, it turns out that Aiden is a half brother with no love lost….and he is dead. Unknown location.

As the day progresses he finds himself back at the school and meets with Mrs Mitchell (Rosalind March) to discuss her memories of the Class. As seen in capture 1, Steve advises that this is St. Michael's Primary School on St. Michael's Street in St.Albans, Hertfordshire.

After a day where Monroe had visited another classmate, Dr. Kate Tremaine (Claire Skinner), who later visited him at his hotel, Colin Somerville is the subject of a hit and run. Unknown location.

Whilst many doubts remain Monroe tells Kate that he is ruling nothing out. Just off High Street, Leigh-on-Sea with the Leigh Sailing Club to the right off screen.

Now more cared for and a more regular form of access.

Tom Monroe returns to the scene of the hit and run to obtain some paint, hopefully from the car that hit Somerville. Unknown location.

Having returned to his office he outlines to DS Grant all the ‘maybe’s’ that he has learned. Later that evening as Sharon Reid (Emma Cater) returns to her car in a multi storey car park….. Unknown location.

…… she is struck by a ‘hit and run’ driver. Unknown location, but it is 'Level 2'.

From here the camera pans down to see her body on the ground below, made to look like suicide.

Superintendent Flood (Pip Torrens) gives them a time frame to wrap the case up whilst leaving the incidents to the respective local police. Unknown location.

The Christmas spirit seems to have been and gone.

The following morning they continue their enquiries, Steven to speak to Alison Carter (Belle Mary Hithersay)…… This is, Jon advises, is Seaview Road in Leigh.

At the home of Alison Carter, having received no reply to his knocking on the front door, he sees her laying on the kitchen floor. Seaview Road, Leigh.

Tom’s suspicions are proven correct, the boiler flue has been blocked with paper. The rear of the house in Seaview Road, Leigh in Capture 43.

Tom gathers from the receptionist (Tonya Kerins) that the only relative that she knows that Frank has is and aunt, in ‘Ternwell’, he pays her a visit. Mrs Paterson is Mrs Thompson (Diana Payan). Another identification from Geoff, Pinner Court, Pinner Road in Pinner, Greater London.

Brought up to date with events Tom visits Alison Carter’s home, where he finds a note ‘signed, A.T.’

Before ‘lights out’ Tom receives a telephone call from a frightened Colin Somerville to say someone was in his house……Tom and Steven visit soon afterwards to see his body in the garden below.
