In a darkened back street at the studio, Benny (Michael Golden) and Grab Kless (Richard Carrickford) follow Gerald Harvey (John Forbes-Robertson) from The Red Lion, a pub run by Bert Ebbutt.

After killing the son of a millionaire businessman man Mortimer Harvey, the two crooks in the employ of Lorne carry his body and belongings to their car.

Benny and Grab drive to Dring Mansions in Chelsea where they leave the the corpse in Jimmy Draycott's flat. In reality we're facing the since demolished numbers 20 and 21 Lancaster Terrace in W2.

A deliberately wider shot to show the arrangement of the replacement, which, since 1966, is the Royal Lancaster Hotel. SJ

At the end of an evening out, Richard Rollinson drives Lady Anthea Munroe to his home on Gresham Terrace where they find Draycott's secretary Fay Gretton waiting to speak with the Toff. Those background buildings look remarkably familiar . . . and this is the access road at the front of Maitland Court running between Gloucester Terrace and Lancaster Terrace.

The view now, which, under the ivy-clad car ramp, runs over Westbourne Street to Bathurst Street. SJ

When the unidentified body is discovered in flat 5 at Dring Mansions after Fay tells Rollinson that Mr. Draycott hasn't been seen for several days, the private detective visits Inspector Grice at Scotland Yard. Seen from Victoria Embankment, this is Derby Gate SW1 with New Scotland Yard to the right.

Tree-free but rather more gate. SJ

Learning that the body in the flat was not Fay's missing employer, Rollinson leaves the Inspector. Derby Gate outside New Scotland Yard.

A serious looking barrier now. SJ

Taking his master's hat, Jolly (Roddy Hughes) gets into the passenger side of the car. Facing north on Victoria Embankment.

About here but I doubt that's the same tree. SJ

Richard Rollinson drives to the Red Lion to see his old acquaintance Bert Ebbutt. Assisted by Jon Walken's identification of the next capture, this is the now lost Barrie Street in W2 with Brook Mews North on the left and Gloucester Terrace crossing the background.

Caroll House now partly occupies the site of Barrie Street. (PW)

To the sound of a barrel organ playing, the shot follows the car around the corner. Jon Walken advises that this is looking north along Craven Terrace in Bayswater from the junction of Barrie Street and Elms Mews with the Mitre public house at the corner of Lancaster Mews to the top left.

Just a few more parked cars than seventy years ago. (PW)

Following lunch with the landlord over which Lorne, Ma Kless and her sons were discussed, the Toff and Jolly arrive home. Jon Walken identifies this as Maitland Court at the junction of Gloucester Terrace and Lancaster Terrace in Bayswater W2. The building can also be seen in 'Mantrap', 'Whispering Smith Hits London', 'Paul Temple Returns', 'Hammer the Toff', 'Salute the Toff', 'Song of Paris', 'The Saint’s Return', 'Operation Diplomat' and 'Flannelfoot' as well as in the background during 'The Italian Job'.

Myra Lorne (Shelagh Fraser) hails a cab as she leaves the club where where Lady Anthea and her Husband are dining with Fay and Rollinson. Piccadilly Circus W1 with Shaftesbury Avenue in the left of centre background.

The various hoarding must be a disappointment for visitors. SJ

Rollinson follows Myra from the club and gets into his car.

Pre-empting her destination, Rollinson watches as Myra's taxi arrives at 21 Gay Street where her husband is waiting with Ma Kless and her sons. A set which is reused in 'Hammer the Toff'.

After the Inspector confirms that Benny Kless killed Myra and that the body in Dring Mansions was that of Harvey Mortimer, Rollinson storms out of Scotland Yard when Grice suspects Draycott to be the murderer. The corner of Victoria Embankment and Derby Gate in SW1.

Too much gate. SJ

More bollards now. SJ

Keeping ahead of Scotland Yard, the Toff arrives outside the home of Mortimer and Phyllis Harvey. Dave W locates this as outside 4A Abercorn Place, London NW8 (RL)

Taken from the pavement. The wall has been replaced by hedging and railings. SJ

Rollinson knocks on the door and is let in by the Maid. A similar view can be seen in 'Hammer the Toff' and Dave W locates this as 4A Abercorn Place, London NW8. (RL)
