At Wolseley Hospital, Mr. Ellis receives bad news about his Wife. Actually Stanwell Road Secondary Modern school, now the Thomas Knyvett College, on Sanwell Road, Ashford in Middlesex TW15 3DU. (RL)

Taking a prescription for painkillers to the dispensary, Mr. Ellis is given the wrong tablets by the Pharmacist's Assistant who is suffering from a migraine. Dating from 1939, this is Stanwell Road Secondary Modern school in Ashford.

Mr. Carlton (Alexander Field) arrives home from the hospital with his medication.

While Mr. Carlton's arthritis begins to cause him pain whilst digging the garden, a police car is sent to his house when he doesn't answer an urgent phone call from the hospital. The vehicle entrance to the County Police Station on South Street in Maidenhead, Berkshire.

Phil Richards painstaking research has enabled him to provide this shot to us of the location as it is now. He adds that South Street no longer exists as such having been replaced by a ramp into the multi story car park, seen here. The Police station has been replaced by the building on the left. Unfortunately one cannot get to ground level (due to the ramp) so this is the best view of the alleyway into the old police station. NOTE: the car park is already being demolished as part of the next set of improvement plans! • •

The camera follows the police car. Looking south on South Street towards Broadway with the County Police Station on the right. The location is confirmed by Tony Winzar who has walked past the site many, many times and advises that an open car park now lies where the white building once stood.

Phil tells us that he Police station has been replaced by the building on the immediate right. The building straight ahead in the capture used to be the Conservative Club, where Phil remembers once having pigeon as a starter! Google Street View shows the building there in 2018 but flown in 2019. (RL)

With staff at the hospital continuing to call him, Mr. Carlton ignores the telephone as he takes two painkillers from the bottle. The corner of Moffatt Street and White Hart Road in Maidenhead with The Anchor beer house in the background and the Pineapple Brewery on High Street, to the top right, the site of which is now occupied by Nicholsons Shopping Centre. The brewery was acquired by Courage, Barclay & Simonds Ltd. in 1958 and closed down in 1961.

This shot is as close as Phil could get to the same position; basically Moffat Street no longer exists but this avenue through the shopping mall follows a similar line to the original Moffat street thereby providing good representation. Phil adds that Maidenhead is going through a total rebuild of the town center and that includes the shopping mall complex, so this view will disappear in a couple of years. By the time this capture is eligible for a third tab the center will more than likely be going through yet another change. (RL)

The Police arrive just in time to prevent the old man from taking the fatal dose. South Street, Maidenhead looking north towards Brock Lane and Britten’s Dairy. Brock Lane can also be seen in ‘The Adventures of PC 49: Investigating the Case of the Guardian Angel’.

The Postman (George Hirste) tells the Mobile Policeman that Mr. and Mrs. Ellis are away, staying with her sister, Mrs. Gallendar. Once again, Church Lane, Bray says Phil. (RL)

With bells ringing, a police car turns off the main road outside the cinema where Laura is about to take her regular tablets. The Parade in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire.

The shot follows the car until it comes to a halt in front of the cinema. This is Bourne End Motors on The Parade in Bourne End. A garage still stands at what is now the corner of Wakeman Road. (PW)

A Policeman rushes inside the picture house to make an urgent appeal for Mrs. Coombe to make herself known. The Royalty Cinema on The Parade in Bourne End in Buckinghamshire with Bourne End Motors in the left background. The Royalty closed on 30th May 1959 and the building became a furniture store. (PW)

After Laura is saved from being poisoned, Dr. Bennett and the pharmacist Miss Freeman head to find Mr. and Mrs. Ellis. Phil now moves to Ferry Road, Bray in Berkshire to identify this capture and provide a supporting photo. Ferry Road, also appears in 'Four Sided Triangle' and 'Man from Nowhere'. (RL)

Sent by Dr. Bennett when he finds the tablets have been switched for aspirin, the Motorcycle Officer arrives outside Mrs. Gallender's house as Mr. Ellis gives his terminally ill Wife two pills. Yes, Vicarage Drive, Bray says Phil. (RL)
