A beautiful but selfish and haughty princess rejects the proposal of a wealthy prince and scorns the gifts he offers her, saying that she will only marry him if he brings her the mythical Singing Ringing Tree.

The King (Charles Hans Vogt) watches in dismay as his daughter the Princess (Christel Bodenstein) tips out a casket of pearls gifted to her by the Prince (Eckart Dux).

After he turns the Prince into a bear, the Dwarf (Richard Krüger) watches him drag the Princess over a stone bridge into his land. This well remembered children's film was shot entirely at Studio Babelsberg in Potsdam, Brandenburg, East Germany
