Storyline:
Carroll Baker plays a dual role in this film, two identical twins named Julie and Mary. While in Holland, Julie begins receiving threats from some mysterious men who attempt to kidnap her and one of them menaces her while wearing a gorilla mask. They are confusing her with her twin sister Mary in London, who apparently stole a massive diamond from a Maheraja and even betrayed her own husband Craig who was in on the heist. A race car driver named Tony (George Hilton) saves Julie from being kidnapped and hides her out in an apartment owned by an old blind woman who is later found murdered. Luciano Pigozzi plays an insurance investigator who is searching for the diamond.

This is the heart of the city of Amsterdam looking at the sign of the Royal Dutch Airline, KLM, and until recently it had been there for decades. Leidseplein direction Leidsestraat, Amsterdam.

Leidseplein Amsterdam as it is in the early 2021. They decided to demolish this corner with the iconic neon light two beer glasses of Heineken beer that Frank remembers since his childhood. Frank fears for what will come instead of this. Probably some ICT company or something like that.

During the introduction the camera moves to another heart of the City: Rembrandtplein with all it’s clubs and bars. Intersection Reguliersbreestraat and Halvemaansteeg, Rembrandtplein, Amsterdam.

For 'Reelstreets' photographers the early Sunday mornings during the Covid-19 lockdown were a blessing for taking a photo. This spot is, in normal circumstances packed with tourists, incredible busy and crowded but now.....nobody.

The 'Rembrandtplein Theater' later became the famous discotheque: Escape. This club was owned by Maup Caransa, at that time the biggest real estate magnate of Amsterdam. In the night of October the 28th in 1977 he was kidnapped and released after 5 days. No one was ever arrested. Rembrandtplein 11-15, Amsterdam.

This building together with many others on the Rembrandtplein used to belong to Maup Caransa who was in the headlines of the world news in 1977 when he was kidnapped. He was the one who pushed the Amsterdam football club Ajax to a higher level because of his financial injections.

A small party has just ended and the people are going home. Van Eeghenstraat 80, Amsterdam.

In the past years Frank walked by this house at the entrance of the Vondelpark over a hundred times and when he saw the film he knew this house from ‘something‘ or ‘somewhere’ but he couldn’t place it exactly until he decided to take a nice Sunday morning walk in the area where he suspected it to be. And here we see the result.

Dave Barton (Stephen Boyd) tries to seduce Julie Harrison (Carroll Baker) but she wants to take a walk home alone, and so she does. While walking in a dark and empty alley she notices that she is followed by a stranger who stops her and then takes some photos of her. Very strange. Van Eeghenstraat 80, Amsterdam.

Even the fence is still the same. Only during the last decades has a tree started to grow here.

The next day Julie goes to work. She works at an airplane company and it is indeed correct that in those days all the mayor airplane companies had their offices in the Leidsestraat. Julie gets a confusing phone call from her twin sister Mary (Carroll Baker in a double role) who is in London. Leidsestraat 54,56 and 58, Amsterdam.

No cars have been allowed in the Leidsestraat for decades now. A blue screen has been changed into the words: 'In Amsterdam We Trust'. Now that is something Frank loves to see.

As a business man he has the unavoidable suitcase with him. It turns out that Dave Barton is a lawyer. Tony Shane (George Hilton), an old friend of Dave, is waiting for him in his office and he invites him for a car race the next morning. Tony is a professional car driver. All of a sudden Julie comes by and tells him about her experience the night before. Tony is very interested in her conversation with Dave. While Julie walks outside some people try to kidnap her, Dave and Tony get in to a fight with them. Van Eeghenstraat 105 and 107, Amsterdam.

That afternoon Dave, Tony and Julie drive to Julie’s house and she tells that there is something wrong with her sister and she thinks that she is in trouble. While they are talking someone breaks in the house and leaves some footprints behind. Unknown location.

The next morning Tony invites Julie to visit him while he is race. She needs something as a diversion so she decide to go to the race. Race circuit Zandvoort in Noord-Holland.

Julie enjoys herself at the track. Meanwhile, Dave goes to Julie’s place of work only to find that is no one there except the beautiful secretary Margaret (Lucretia Love) and surprise, surprise, she falls for him immediately and Dave invites her to a romantic place. Race circuit Zandvoort.

He takes Margaret to his summer house next to a lake just outside of Amsterdam. Later that night when Tony brings Julie back to her house they once again see someone is in her house. While Tony and Julie are held at gunpoint the burglar asks where ‘it’ is. Julie has no idea what he means. By accident the police arrive because they see a strange car in front of Julie’s house. It all ends in a gunfight and a policeman dies. Unknown location.

An old woman (uncredited) lives here but she will be away for a couple of days in Rotterdam so Julie can stay in that house. Later, Julie finds out that the old woman is murdered and is hidden in the attic of the house. This story gets stranger and stranger…. Apollolaan, Amsterdam.

On the original shot this house is brown but in the 21 century it is RED!!!

To make it even more complicated, Dave had hired a private detective (uncredited) to investigate who the attackers were but it turns out that so far the private detective had not made much progress. Steve Hunter(Luciano Pigozzi), from an insurance company, pays a visit to Dave. He is investigating the case of a stolen diamond and he thinks that Mary Harrison stole the diamond. Maybe Julie can convince her sister to return the diamond. Leidseplein and in the background, the Stadschouwburg, Amsterdam.

The phone booth has been replaced by empty space. The International Theater Amsterdam (Frank didn’t even know it is called like that nowadays) aka Stadschouwburg is the building on the background. This neo-renaissance building is build in 1894 after a wooden Stadsschouwburg burned down in 1890. The architect was Jan L. Springer.

Meanwhile the private detective investigates some old newspapers at the offices of 'Het Parool'. This is the old location where this newspaper was printed. Wibautstraat 131, Amsterdam.

Until the 2004 the newspaper 'Het Parool' was printed in this building. Nowadays Het Parool has moved to Oostenburg.

Some sinister people keep an eye on Tony. What is going on here? In the background we see a tower from the Muiderslot castle that also was filmed in the movie 'Puppet on a Chain' (Capture 22 and 23). Herengracht, Muiden.

Tony leaves Muiden and again gets followed by some sinister people. Meanwhile Julie gets an unexpected visit by a stranger. Herengracht, Muiden.

Frank thinks that cars looked better in the 70’s than nowadays but everybody has the right of his or her own opinion on that subject.

Tony is followed by the blue car and Tony starts to notice that he is being followed and it becomes a high speed pursuit of two cars. Unknown location.

At one point Tony stops, leaves the Volvo and steps into a Citroen DS. The driver of the DS takes off in the Volvo and to make it even stranger and complicated a Peugeot 504 gets involved into this high speed chase as well. Julie does not trust the stranger in Tony’s house. He says that he is a manager of Tony and is into the racing business as well. Unknown location.

The chase comes to a climax when the Volvo and the Peugeot crash and it ends in a shootout. The driver of the Volvo (uncredited) got hit fatally and the two people in the Peugeot notice that it isn’t Tony. One of them is Steve Hunter and obvious he is not working for an insurance company. Tony arrives home and when he sees Julie he shows her a fake diamond that he picked up in Muiden. He hits her and asks where the real one is. Tony isn't such a nice guy after all. Tony goes outside and he gets shot by one of the two guys from the Peugeot 504. Now they enter Tony’s house and ask the so called manager of Tony where the diamond is. He gets killed as well. When Frank took this photo it was not a bloody situation but all peace and quiet on a Sunday morning.

Meanwhile the police gets into action after all this killing and shooting. Julie gets kidnapped by the two gangsters and is brought to the countryside. Turfmarkt looking in the direction of Zuider Buiten Spaarne, Haarlem in Noord-Holland.

The modern buildings in the background apparently have a tendency to change by themselves as the years pass by. And in rare occasions Dutch trees do shrink instead of growing.

They bring her to a typical Dutch windmill and scare her to death. She needs to tell the two gangsters where the diamond is. All of a sudden Tony shows up and kills the two gangsters, but one of them hurts him badly. Molen Het Prinsenhof, Relkepad 3, Westzaan, Noord-Holland.

Now this location did cause some headaches for Frank. After checking numerous photos of windmills he finally found the right windmill and he was right that it was in the so called Zaanstreek, next to Zaandam.

In all the confusion Julie manage to escape and runs away from the windmill. She runs and runs but Tony is behind her, all of a sudden she sees a huge truck and, believe it or not, the keys are still in it and she runs over him and kills him. Molen Het Prinsenhof, Relkepad 3, Westzaan

When Frank finally did locate the windmill he discovered that there is no road or path to it, only wet meadows. Finally when he took the shots his loafers were completely soaked but if you want to make the (almost) perfect now shot; you have to work for it.

After all the horror and killing Julie returns to Tony’s place to pick up her stuff and to see the only one she can trust: Dave Barton. She tells the police that the gangsters confused her with her sister Mary and that everyone thought that she had the diamond. All Julie wants to do is leave and forget about all the horror and killings. Intersection Prinsengracht and Reguliersgracht, Amsterdam.

Julie takes a taxi and leaves Tony’s apartment and she takes off to the airport. Schiphol Airport.

So much changed at this airport and the only recognisable element is the building on the right but the rest is all different.

While they watch the plane leave the two police officers see the story unfold. One policeman says to the other that Julie’s sister died two years ago. Dave Barton is also on the plane and he knew it all the way that Julie and Mary were one and the same person. It turns out that Dave engaged the investigator to find out what was going on. The police didn’t do anything because in the end all gangsters killed each other. As a conclusion Julie has the stolen diamond in her pack of cigarettes. Dave and Julie feel completely relaxed now they leave Schiphol airport. Schiphol Airport.
