Mine Own Executioner

A Postman delivers mail to the Emily Ward Psychiatric Clinic on Elvaston Place where prospective patron Sir George Freethorne asks Dr. Norris Pile to meet lay practitioner Mr. Felix Milne. Yes, it is Elvaston Place in SW7 with Queen's Gate crossing the background.

At his home on Springfield Road, Felix shows Lady Maresfield out of his consulting room after she pressures him into agreeing to further treatment.

Egerton Gardens, SW3. SJ

Following a visit to Mr. Milne by his concerned wife Molly, Adam Lucian (Kieron Moore) kicks a stone as he walks slowly towards the psychologist's house. Elvaston Place with Queen's Gate in the left distance.

Some fairly intrusive scaffolding blights the scene. SJ

The former RAF pilot pauses to look at Milne's house before moving on, still kicking the stone.

Outside 56 Egerton Gardens looking across to 4-6 Egerton Gardens. SJ

Spotting his patient through the window, Felix Milne (Burgess Meredith) leaves the house to talk with him.

The fanlight has been altered. SJ

Near the end of the street, Felix persuades Adam to accompany him inside.

Looking north to Egerton Place. SJ

Leaving after his first session with Felix, the troubled 28 year old looks along the street after losing the stone in a drain. Queen's Gate Terrace SW7 with Queen's Gate to the top right.

While the lamppost disappoints the top left background matches nicely. SJ

When the unqualified Felix resigns from the clinic, Dr. James Garsten (John Laurie) attempts to change his mind. The corner of Elvaston Place and Queen's Gate with Alexandra Court in the right background.

Hard to step further back as something was parked in the way. SJ

A police car carries Inspector Pierce and Felix towards the Embankment where Adam has been located after attempting to kill Molly. Looking south from the corner of John Islip Street and Page Street in SW1 with Abel House to the right.

Much has changed but the former Queen Alexandra Military Hospital, now part of Tate Modern, remains. SJ

The car corners at speed. Facing west on Page Street towards the junction formed by John Islip Street and Dean Ryle Street with Horseferry House and Westminster Hospital on the right.

This is looking west along Page Street, though I should be further back. A retake beckons when the scaffolding has gone. I do remember that the left hand side of the street once housed the lost Art Deco Paviours Arms which was destroyed in 2003... Well I did do a retake further back without waiting for the scaffolding to go. This shows the east end of Page Street now blocked off. SJ

At the scene, a Sergeant waits to brief the Inspector and Felix when they arrive. Looking towards Millbank along Page Street at the junction with Thorney Street in SW1.

This was filled in when MI5 took over the former government offices of Thames House in the early 90s. SJ

A tilt shot starts up the building indicated by the Sergeant. Thames House at the corner of Thorney Street and Page Street.

The in-fill alters the view to the right. SJ

On a ledge high above the street, Adam looks down. Thames House in SW1... with some added trickery and storeys (unless I've missed something) (SJ)

This is what it looks like now, so there was quite a bit of trickery if I have the correct place. SJ

Felix nervously climbs the ladder deployed by the Firemen. Thames House at the junction of Thorney Street and Page Street with Lambeth Bridge visible to the top, right of centre.

Given that a comparison is very unlikely, here's a view of Lambeth Bridge from the riverside of the infill. SJ
