A short pan sees Pat enter the house where her father Frank is in a meeting with his client Mr. Donaghue.

Teacher Anne Mason (Jacqueline Ellis) checks the position of her colleague Paul Brenner (John Bonney) as he gets ready to dive into the water during a swimming relay at school. Oliver Lee recognised the Harlow Town Swimming Pool in Harlow, Essex adding that quite a lot of the extras where kids from nearby Burnt Mill Secondary School. As the film was given an X certificate at the time some of the pupils who appeared in the pool where unable to see themselves on the big screen.

Spectators cheer as the second leg of the Girl's relay team prepare to take to the water. Oliver Lee identified Harlow Pool which stood on First Avenue with access from the corner of Park Lane in Harlow. Opening in 1961, the facility closed in 2007 and was demolished in October 2010.

Linda Donaghue (Annette Whiteley) arrives home from lessons with something to tell her Mother. Mary French believes that this looks very much like a house on Oatlands Drive, Weybridge, Surrey in the 1950s with the name 'Stonystack'. Now demolished and redeveloped. (RL)

Finding her parents unapproachable, Linda seeks another answer to her dilemma. Facing southward on Eden Street in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey with Gough House to the right, The street was recognised by contributors to the 'Kingston, Surbiton, Tolworth Memories, Local History and Genealogy' Facebook page along with Colin Phillimore who adds that the building with the tall chimney to the top left was Spire Sports.

Much has changed in Kingston in the past 63 years, as Peter Bywaters discovered.

Peter Bywaters did his best for this shot but various obstacles prevented him getting enough distance from the buildings to replicate the capture. However, unlike much else in the area, at least the shop buildings still exist.

Facing the Morning Star public house at the corner of Apple Market and Eden Street. The location can also be seen in 'Mystery in the Mine'.

Julian Shea had trouble with a good angle due to two parked vans. However, alterations to the Morning Star, which is currently styled as O'Neills, can be seen.

Unaware that her father is behind her, Linda continues on her way. Market Place in Kingston upon Thames with the Market House to the left. Kingston's Market Place also appears in 'The Dock Brief', 'Operation Diplomat', 'The Lost Hours' and 'Marriage of Convenience'.

Traffic lights allow Linda to cross a busy junction but vehicles move away before George can catch up. Identified by Rob on Twitter, with Stirling's across the road, this is the junction of Thames Street and Clarence Street with Kingston Bridge visible to the left of centre.

Avoiding yet another parked van, Julian Shea took this view of the changed junction.

Crossing another road, the young woman nears her destination. Located by Phil Evans, this is the junction of Uxbridge Road and Surbiton Crescent in Surbiton, Surrey with Maple Road crossing the background and Surbiton High School Assembly Rooms in the left distance

Julian Shea captured the same junction with Surbiton High School Assembly Rooms hidden behind a newer residential block.

The camera moves with Linda until she walks from view. This is Maple House with properties on Maple Road in the left background.

Peter Bywaters found a very similar view today.

At the rear of a block of flats, George sees Linda enter number 27, home to Miss Mason. The rear of Maple House on Maple Road, Surbiton found by Phil Evans.

Without wishing to impose or trespass, Julian Shea provides this view of the steps from the car park.

Sitting on a seat next to her packed bag, Linda stares at her empty coffee cup inside The What 'O Transport Café. Phil Evans discovered that there was a What 'O Café on Beverley Way, Kingston By-Pass in New Malden which is confirmed by Barry Lawrence. Christopher Matheson points out that the café also appears in 'The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner'.
