Green Buddha, The

The title track lingers on as the credits fade from a view looking from SE1 over Westminster Bridge towards the Houses of Parliament in SW1.

I arrived while the scaffolding was slowly being removed from the Victoria Tower and found that the roadway was receiving attention! (PW)

Following a car that appears on the bridge, the camera pans left. Facing the junction of Westminster Bridge Road and Stangate SE1 with St. Thomas’ Hospital to the right.

The car draws to a halt outside the building where Nobby (Kenneth Griffith) is waiting for Tony Scott to arrive. Seen from the entrance to the County Hall on Belvedere Road, this is what has more recently been named Forum Magnum Square with the since removed connecting link between the North and South Blocks in the left background.

Following the theft of the titular 'Green Buddha' from the exhibition, Tony, Nobby and O'Rourke make their getaway. Westminster Bridge with the Country Hall in the background.

As Nobby and O'Rourke report to their boss Frank Olsen, Tony arrives at a rural airport with a case containing the Green Buddha. Fairoaks Aerodrome in Surrey.

Driving across the airfield, Tony pulls up outside the office of Gary Holden, the owner of a small charter-plane company. Fairoaks Aerodrome near Chobham to the north of Woking.

Daren Cahillane found that the building survives, unfortunately obscured by a tanker that wasn't going anywhere soon.

Tony Scott (Wolf Frees) introduces himself to Gary Holden (Wayne Morris) before the pair get into the Auster J/1N Alpha. Fairoaks Aerodrome opened in 1937 but closure has been proposed for the site to be redevelopment as housing.

Wondering why a flight plan hasn't been completed, Henry Marsh (Leslie Linder) comes out of the building to see a Police car approaching. The Control Tower at Fairoaks Aerodrome in Surrey.

Nobby buys a newspaper and reads of the connection between a mystery plane crash and the missing Green Buddha. We're hoping for a better print of this film so that we can see the location.

The shot follows the pilot onto one of the houseboats where he finds his partner Henry dancing with Susie. Looking towards tower blocks Riley House and Gillray House on the Cremorne Estate with Purcell House on Milman’s Street to the right.

After being approached by Olsen, O'Rourke and Nobby who question him about Scott, Gary watches helplessly as Vivien Blake is kidnapped from outside the Pin Cushion Club where she works as a singer.

When Vivien tells Olsen learns about Vittorio Miranda, Scott's former cell mate, he and O'Rourke set off for the Crime Museum at Battersea Fun Fair. Nick Boorman found that this is a long way from Battersea, it.s Church Street in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey.

Gary walks over to the shop where Nobby is keeping an eye on Vivien. The distinctive bay window gives it away as Church Street in Walton-on-Thames, located by Nick Boorman.

After knocking Nobby out, Gary and Vivien follow Olsen and O'Rourke to Battersea Fun Fair. Facing Nestlé’s Playland at the former Festival Pleasure Gardens in Battersea Park SW11.

Continuing to search for the Green Buddha after Scott's death, Gary returns to the site of the plane crash. In the distance stands Newark Mill on the River Wey Navigation to the south of Pyrford in Surrey.

Having spoken to the Farmer that witnessed the plane crash, Gary walks across to an old mill nearby. Newark Mill near Ripley.

Soon after Gary enters the mill, O'Rourke appears on the scene. The west side of Newark Mill on the River Wey Navigation. The corn mill burnt down in 1966, five years after being seen in ‘On the Fiddle’.

After finding the case full of rocks and suspecting Vivien of taking the Green Buddah, Gary escapes from the Pin Cushion Club when Inspector Flynn arrives to arrest him for O'Rourke's murder.

At Battersea, Olsen runs from Miranda's exhibit with the Green Buddha when Gary arrives. The former Festival Pleasure Gardens Fun Fair in Battersea Park SW11 which had been taken over by a private company in 1953.

Gary pursues Olsen through the fun fair. Battersea Fun Fair opened in 1951 and has been seen in many productions including ‘Seventy Deadly Pills’, ‘Bedazzled’, ‘The Wrong Arm of the Law’, 'Gorgo' and ‘The Day the Earth Caught Fire’.
