Returning to the location, Antony Blair found that the pier has since been rebuilt in concrete.

Trying to recall the passage of time, Henry pauses to remember that this was where it all started. Bournemouth Beach with the Baths to the left and the Royal Bath Hotel in the centre distance.

Cut to four weeks previously, where Henry is on the same beach with Lucy Gerard. Bournemouth Pier and the Pier Theatre in the Dorset resort.

Lucy picks up her beach towel and Henry takes her back to London. Looking east along the beach at Bournemouth.

Antony Blair found a less crowded beach . . . well it was October.

The pair head towards the Capital where, on his return to work, Inspector Roberts gives him the task of visiting Mrs. Claudia Matthews at flat 14 Hightrees House who believes that an ex-boyfriend, Martin Casey, wants to kill her.

After a woman's body is found in Claudia's flat, Henry makes his way to Sandbanks in Bournemouth where George Matthews (Nigel Stock) has just left the film's Arne Cliffe House. The view west from Sandbanks Road in Poole, Dorset with Poole Harbour filling the background.

Leaving his housekeeper inside, George surveys the garden. Since filming took place, the house on Sandbanks Road appears to have been replaced.

Making his way back to the road, George gets into his car and drives away. These steps led up to Sandbanks Road in Poole.

When the coast is clear, Henry runs across the road to Arne Cliffe House. Sandbanks Road in Poole, Dorset.

Once through the gate, Henry descends to the house and enters through the unlocked back door to find Miss Pauline Carstairs, Claudia's twin sister. The gate to the steps leading down to the cliff side property.

Agreeing with Henry that George killed his wife, Pauline Carstairs (Katharine Blake) meets regularly with the Sergeant at a beach hut below the house. The groynes suggest that this is the cliff above Boscombe Promenade.

Following a night spent together, Pauline reveals to Henry that she is Claudia and explains that the police were called after George had killed his wife, Nightingale Lane in London SW12 with Holmside Court on the right.

Claudia continues, telling Henry how she sat across the road and watched as a police car pulled up outside Hightrees House. The location is as described in the story, opposite Hightrees House on Nightingale Lane, Clapham with Thurleigh Court in beyond the background wall.

No sign of a bench but the detail of the wall is there, matching the right of the screenshot. SJ

Whilst out driving, Henry parks near to an electricity supply cabinet before thinking up a method of getting rid of George.

Putting the plan into operation, Henry returns to his car after making a phone call to Lucy.

To ensure that he has an alibi, Henry heads back to his flat in London. The camera pans to bring a sign into view which suggests that the location is near Alton in Hampshire.

Leaving Lucy unconscious in his flat after drugging her, Henry drives back to the south coast.

The long journey towards Bournemouth continues into the night.

George brakes as he approaches Henry lying in the roadway near the electric supply box.

Back in the present, Henry hands himself in to a Constable waiting on the pier. Looking towards land from Bournemouth Pier in Dorset with the Baths in the right distance.
