Calling Paul Temple

While detective novelist Paul Temple discusses a series of murders of Women with Sir Graham Forbes, the Deputy Commissioner of Scotland Yard, and Inspector Crane at home, his wife Steve learns of a clue at her beauty salon. New Bond Street in W1 with the corner of Conduit Street to the right.

After two recent attempts on their lives, Steve calls Paul over to their apartment window when a Girl in Grey arrives by cab. Regency Lodge on Adelaide Road in NW3.

No resident invited Paul Lincoln in to take a shot from their window so he had to accept ground level. Accordingly a wider comparative shot seemed appropriate to the circumstances. The facility to park in the center appears to have been lost. (RL)

Following a lead, Paul and Steve arrive in Canterbury to search for Judy Grant at the Falcon Hotel. St. Dunstans Street in Canterbury, Kent with the Falstaff Hotel to the left and Westgate ahead.

There's considerably more traffic in Nick Boorman's less picturesque view.

Checking in at the Falcon, Paul surveys the view from the dining room window. Across the Great Stour stands Bishops Mill on Westgate Grove, Canterbury.

Nick Boorman found very little difference in the scene across 75 years.

Steve asks Paul for a trip along the river before the two are seated for lunch and another clue is discovered. Straddling the watercourse stands Greyfriars Chapel, now surrounded by the Franciscan Gardens.

While Paul is distracted by Wilfred Davies, Steve begins to follow Davies' Accomplice. Looking across the Great Stour towards buildings on Westgate Grove.

Paul catches up with Steve and and the two follow Davies' Accomplice towards the Cathedral. Looking from St. Margaret’s Street towards Mercery Lane beyond the junction of High Street and Parade with Christchurch Gate in the distance.

Steve (Dinah Sheridan) and Paul Temple (John Bentley) find the gates locked. The gateway on Blackfriars Street adjacent to the former monastery.

After the couple return to London, the Girl in Grey calls to see Paul. The entrance to numbers 47 to 60 Regency Lodge on Adelaide Road in South Hampstead. The building also appears in ‘The 20 Questions Murder Mystery’, ‘The Turners of Prospect Road’ and ‘Guilty?’.

Following Steve back to Canterbury, Paul rows along the river to the Old Friars Monastery. Looking across the Great Stour in Canterbury towards the walls of the former Blackfriars Monastery.

The camera moves with the punt bringing a doorway in the wall of the monastery into view.

Calling Steve's name, Paul Temple runs through the monastery's undercroft towards her stifled reply.
