Shallow Grave

The location is established by a high-speed whizz around Edinburgh in Lothian, Scotland. This view is 19 India Street facing south.

Lionel and Cynthia Sear 'whizzed' around Edinburgh for us took some crisper shots for us, apologising that they were a little too far south. We are not complaining! (RL)

The scene-setting is punctuated by views of the shallow grave location. This is Rouken Glen Park, Rouken Glen Road, Thornliebank, Glasgow in Strathclyde. One of Danny Boyle’s favourite haunts that was also used in 'Trainspotting'.

Returning to the race around Edinburgh, we reach South East Circus Place, facing Royal Circus...

Alex, Juliet and David are looking for a new flatmate. As they interview potential candidates, a blue car enters the area. The corner of North East Circus Place and Royal Circus, Edinburgh.

Hugo is found dead in his room next to a suitcase full of money. The flatmates decide to dispose of the body and keep the cash. They park a hospital maintenance van outside the building and transfer the body to it.

Juliet, who works at the hospital, has dropped a bag containing some body parts into a pile to be incinerated. The Royal Alexandra Hospital, Corsebar Road, in Paisley, west of Glasgow city centre.

After the friends bury Hugo in a shallow grave, Alex dumps Hugo’s car into a flooded quarry. Mugdock Loch in Mugdock Country Park, Mugdock Road, Craigallion Road, north of Milngavie in Strathclyde, Scotland.

Meanwhile a pair of crooks are out looking for Hugo and the money, and are holed up in a row of garages near the railway.

The flatmates head to the shallow grave site having dealt with the crooks who attacked them in the flat.

In the street outside the flat Alex and Juliet discuss David’s increasingly paranoid behaviour. 2 North East Circus Place, Edinburgh.

The garden where it was viewed from is private, so I took this from beside the fence and leant over. (SD)

As a budding reporter Alex is sent to cover the crime scene. Rouken Glen Park, Rouken Glen Road, Thornliebank, Glasgow. The distinctive group of three trees next to the road might be a clue to the exact location.
