"Where, in one week, is the greatest amount of cash to be found? Answer, in the nation's pay packets." One Friday, this private security van carrying about £50,000 in cash is held up by Crooks masquerading as police officers.

Having started their investigations into the robbery, Superintendent Reynolds and Sergeant Kovacs, a New York Police Sergeant on a exchange scheme, follow clues that lead them to armed robber Joseph Shelton who has recently been released from prison. Dave W finds the action taking place in Winchester Street, London SW1 looking towards Lupus Street and De Quincey House of the Churchill Gardens Estate. (RL)

Not obvious in Neil Kenny's comparison but the pavement utility covers match.

After the Detectives speak with Mrs Annie Shelton, every Tenant in the building is questioned including Mr. Webber in the basement flat. Specifically Dave says, 43 Winchester Street, SW1 (RL)

Taking this shot, Neil Kenny comments that the building appears to have been re-clad while the front door and window remain in the right positions.

With railway stations, airports and ports being watched, a Constable on duty at Victoria station spots a Suspicious Man (Stephen Jack) approaching the left luggage office where an Attendant is waiting. The concourse at Victoria station in London SW1, also seen in 'Knock on Wood'.

When Shelton's fingerprint is found at the site of another robbery, air Passengers find themselves under close scrutiny.

Detective (David Williams) keeps up surveillance at the airport. In the background stands the Central Control Tower at London Airport which was in use until 2007 before being demolished six years later.

Cargo vessels are searched at the country's harbours as the search for Shelton continues.

Lodging undercover in the house where Mrs. Shelton lives, Detective Sergeant Hale (Tim Turner) leaves to report that she often goes out with Webber. Dave W establishes Hale as leaving 43 Winchester Street, SW1 (RL)

A car gets in the way of Neil Kenny's line of sight.

Following the discovery of a headless and handless corpse during excavations for a new building, Superintendent Reynolds travels to the West Country.

At the prison where Shelton was serving his last sentence, attempts are made to match an operation scar in an effort to identify the remains. Dartmoor Prison on Tavistock Road in Princetown, Devon.

A police car brings the Superintendent and the New York Sergeant back to the lodging house. Richard Lovejoy locates this as the corner of Sussex Street and Winchester Street in SW1.

Now with a tree but with two surviving businesses. SJ

Accompanied by a Police Officer (Dan Cressy), Superintendent Reynolds (John Warwick) and Sergeant Kovacs (Phil Brown) get out of the Wolseley with a search warrant. The view up Winchester Street identified by Richard Lovejoy with the distant flats in Cumberland Street, which were then visible.

When there's no answer after knocking at Webber's door, Kovacs takes a large bunch of keys from his pocket. Dave suggests that the downpipe indicates that this is 43 Winchester Street SW1 once again. (RL)

This is no43: if I've got this right, I'm assuming next door to the left was demolished at some point. SJ

After the Detectives enter Mrs Shelton's flat where they find the criminal gang, Webber (Edwin Richfield) escapes from back of the building. Dave says that this is a rare view of the rear of 43 Winchester Street showing the wooden props used to support its new role as an end of terrace following the WWII destruction of the adjacent property. With no access available when he arrived on site, intrepid Neil Kenny took this off angle view of the wall through a gateway.

Webber runs towards railway sidings. Looking towards Field Sidings on top of the embankment to the north-west of New Cross Gate station in SE14. The embankment is now obscured by properties on Robert Lowe Close.

Superintendent Reynolds, Sergeant Kovacs and the Police Officer follow Webber from the building. Dave finishes his nostalgic trip back to Pimlico identifiing this as "seen from Sussex Street, the rear elevations of 92 et seq Alderney Street to the left, Winchester Street to the right. The WWII bombsite is now an adventure playground. (RL)

The closest that Neil Kenny could get to the now substantial boundary wall.

After dodging between wagons and avoiding a moving train, Webber is eventually apprehended. Field Sidings at New Cross Gate, to the north of the repair sheds, with East London Up Junction signalbox in the top left distance. The site is now occupied by Sainsbury's.
