Watching from the branches of a tree at their joint birthday party, young cousins Margaret and France watch as their Parents enjoy themselves.

At the funeral of his mother Kate, France holds Margaret's hands for comfort.

This is the best one can manage after the mid 2000s refurbishment for Eurostar including a new glass panels for the roof of the Barlow Shed with its Grade 1 listed status. SJ

Years later, Margaret returns to London. Looking over the River Thames toward Butler's Wharf, the Anchor Brewery and Tower Bridge from the roof of a warehouse to the south of the East Dock of St. Katharine Docks in E1.

A pan to the right starts, bringing the Clock Tower of the Ivory House into view. Margaret (Jane Asher) gets out of the taxi with France (Hywel Bennett) who had met her at the station. This yard at St. Katharine Docks is now occupied by the modern day Marble Quay, Mews Street and part of the South Quay Estate.

France leads Margaret to the building that he calls home. St. Katharine Docks in London E1.

The next day, France takes Margaret out for a picnic. The Red Bridge over the Broadwater in the Great Park at Hatfield House on Great North Road, Hatfield, Hertfordshire.

As Fred (Sven-Bertil Taube) rows beneath the bridge, France calls down and asks for a lift up river. The Red Bridge in the grounds of Hatfield House also appears in Vanity Fair' and 2018's 'Overlord'.

The three become friends and Fred takes the pair on his motorcycle combination to find the second most beautiful girl in the world as a partner for France.

Without stopping, a Fiat drives out of a car pound onto a main road in East London. West India Dock Road E14 with the background viaduct carrying the line between Limehouse Junction and Millwall Junction on the former London & Blackwall Railway. At the time of filming the line was used for storing wagons but since 1987 the Docklands Light Railway has followed the route.

The Fiat almost collides with Fred's combination, causing him to swerve and hit a traffic bollard. In the background stands the Blue Posts public house at the corner of West India Dock Road and Ming Street in Poplar. The pub was renamed the Buccaneer before closure and demolition in the late 80s when the road was widened.

Manny calls out an apology from her Fiat as the three recover themselves. West India Dock Road in Poplar E14. The decorative posts in the background survive, albeit rearranged, outside what is now, since 1992, the Dockmasters House with an address of 1 Hertsmere Road.

While the combination is repaired in a garage, Manny (Leigh Taylor-Young) is taken to lunch by Margaret, Fred and France. The window sign suggests that the premises are those of Torellis Restaurant.

Going on holiday to Spain, the four look at the property they've rented for two weeks.

France takes a table at a restaurant in the local town. Manuel Gurtner explains that this is looking down onto the main square of Ojén, located north of Marbella, and one of the Pueblos Blancos (White Villages) in the province of Málaga, Andalusia.

Carrying a loaf of bread, Margaret browses in the market. Plaza de Andalucía, just opposite of the church called Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, advises Manuel Gurtner.

Fred pays for produce at a vegetable stall.

Wearing a new hat, Manny joins Fred, Margaret and France for lunch.

As evening falls, the four make their way back to the farm. Manuel Gurtner identifies this view as across Rio de Fuengirola towards Castillo de Sohail, located in the southern outskirt of Fuengirola, Málaga province.

The following day it's Fred and Manny's turn to go shopping.

Manny tells Fred that she thinks the two should have an affair.

At the farm, Margaret asks France if he wants to go swimming.

With the holiday over, France, Fred, Margaret and Manny carry their luggage through the town.

As they walk together, Fred tells France that he wants to marry Margaret.

Fred continues that he would like to take Margaret to Stockholm to meet his parents.

When told that Fred hasn't asked Margaret, France suggests that maybe he should.

When they reach the railway station, Fred explains that he has to go home anyway after giving up his room in London. Manuel Gurtner's research revealed that this is Fuengirola station, the end point of the narrow gauge branch line operated at the time of filming by Ferrocarriles Suburbanos de Málaga. The line closed in 1970. In the distance the mountain range with Cerro de Medialuna and Cerro del Moro can be recognized.

"So if you don't go you have nowhere to live?" Platform 1 of Fuengirola station Manuel Gurtner tells us, adding that the line is now on the RENFE suburban line which was built to broad gauge and laid underground in this area of Fuengirola. Today Avenida Jesús Santos Rein runs here, but the former station building survives.

After Fred moves into France's home, Manny instructs him in English architecture. Looking across the Thames from what is now known as Tower Wharf in EC3, towards the warehouses of Pickle Herring Street in SE1 with Tower Bridge to the left.

Manny points out details of interest at the Tower of London. Tower Wharf, which also appears in 'Alfie', 'A Run for Your Money', 'Three Hats for Lisa', 'Diamonds for Breakfast' and 'The Naked Edge'.

While the trees on the left have thrived, the right has been cleared. SJ

Sitting a short distance away, Margaret asks France "What are those two up to?" Facing the walls of the Tower of London from Tower Wharf in EC3.

The view is now compromised by an over-extended café. SJ

Watching a slide show at a party thrown by Martin Carr-Gibbons, France imagines himself exploring the property seen on the screen with Margaret, Fred and Manny.

As he describes the property, Martin explains that the cottage might need a lick of paint.

Martin goes on to say that "The grounds are marvellous."

Having taken the cottage, France prunes a rose bush while the others busy themselves with other garden chores.

Adjusting the focus, France sets his camera timer to take a picture of the four as Manny announces that she's going to have a baby.

Christmas decorations are being put up when Margaret receives a letter telling her that she's won a scholarship and will spend a whole year in Rome. The background archway leads to the East Dock at St. Katharine Docks in E1.

When it's revealed that Fred is the father of Manny's child, the pair get married. St. Mary's church at Church End in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire.

Antony Blair went to church 54 years later.

France begins to pack his camera away before Margaret approaches to tell him that she was afraid that he was going to marry Manny. Looking towards the junction of Station Road, Churchway and Aston Road in Haddenham.

Manny is overjoyed to learn that her wealthy friend George has arranged a surprise reception because he couldn't attend the ceremony as his plane was delayed. The background houses stand on Church End, Haddenham.

Explaining to Margaret that nothing has to change because they're married, Manny tells her that she and France can visit them in Stockholm. Church End, Haddenham.

Margaret takes up her scholarship in Rome, writing to France "In all this time, I've only had five letters from you." Looking past the fountain towards the frontage of Palacio Episcopal, the Bishop's Palace, in Plaza del Obispo, Málaga. The square also appears in 'The Running Man'.

"What are you doing? Tell. Write and tell me. Well, I've begun to hate Rome. Nothing here seems quite real any more. It's got hotter and dustier than I'd ever imagined it could be. I thought it would all be white and ancient and . . . aristocratic." Facing Palacio Episcopal in Plaza del Obispo.

Fellow art student Alberto (Jonathan Burn) catches up with Margaret as she leaves college.

Pursuing Margaret, Alberto finds her when they both attend the same party.

On a balcony, a band begins to play as Margaret continues makes her excuses to Alberto.

Receiving a call from George, Margaret flies home to meet him at the airport where Simon serves breakfast from the boot of the car. IMDb suggests Luton Airport at Luton in Bedfordshire.

At their house by the sea, Fred, Manny and their son France run towards the taxi bringing Margaret on a surprise visit.

Margaret is overjoyed to find that her cousin France is also at the house and the two talk about their latest failed romances.

Leaving Manny with France and the baby, Fred takes Margaret on a trip to Stockholm but can't find her when he returns to their table with coffee. The Sergelgatan shopping precinct in Stockholm identified by Steve Randall.

Looking onto the street below, Fred sees Margaret appear from a shop with a hat box. Steve Randall advises that here, we're looking down onto the Sergelgatan shopping precinct in Stockholm.

Unable to console him, Margaret walks away from Fred after his son is drowned while Manny and France were making love on the beach.

After Manny leaves home following a disastrous night out, Fred, France and Margaret visit George in Stockholm. The Royal Wasa Hotell at 6 Saltsjöutfarten on the island of Södermalm in Stockholm.
