While newspapers report on his resignation, incompetent schoolmaster Dr. Benjamin Twist (Will Hay) is thrown from St. Michael's School by the Board of Governors. A studio set, just to feature Will Hay.

Mistakenly incarcerated after being given the position of Governor at Blackdown Prison in Devon, Dr. Twist and Jerry the Mole attempt to escape concealed beneath an upturned crate. Gainsborough's Islington Studios at the corner of Poole Street and Imber Street in London N1.

A prisoner acts as a Tic-tac Man conveying odds between the prison yard and the racecourse as Dr. Benjamin Twist's lenient methods take effect. The roof of Gainsborough's Islington Studios with the chimney remaining from the days when the building was a power station for the Great Northern & City Railway.
Paul Lincoln visited the location to find that with the chimney gone and what looks like another floor added it was sensible to pan down a little to capture that corner as it is now. (RL)
