Whilst in the Lake District, Keith Prested took the opportunity to capture some views of the hotel.

Mr. McTavish (Jim Cameron) watches Owen Jones (Gareth Robinson), Trevor Davis (Nicholas Young) and Dai Evans (Kaplan Kaye) unload their luggage from the vehicle. Outside the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel within the Lake District National Park.
Development since filming prevented Keith Prested from taking a clear shot from the same angle.

Warden Jock McGregor (Bryan Marsh) calls out the names of Phillips, Martin and Nelson who are the last to join the Welsh and London pupils. Great Langdale in Westmoreland, since 1974 part of Cumbria.

On another day, the young Climbers rest on the mountainside whilst taking a twelve mile hike. Stickle Ghyll Waterfall in the Langdale Pikes, Westmoreland.

As darkness falls, the Youngsters approach a disused mine. Honister Slate Mine in Honister Pass, Cumberland.

Mark leads the group into the deserted workings where Mr. McTavish has arranged to collect them. Producing Westmorland green slate, Honister Slate Mine was still operating at the time filming took place.

Remembering the spooky pranks that were played the night before, Mark creeps between the old buildings. The slate mine was sold in 1981 and again in 1985 but closed four years later.

As eerie noises unnerve the lads, Trevor walks through an old shed. Honister Slate Mine eventually reopened by a local businessman in 1997.

Thinking that he may already be waiting, Trevor calls out for Mr. McTavish. The Honister Slate Mine site now includes a visitor centre and underground tours of the workings.
