Following a montage of archive footage featuring scenes of war, the story opens in London. The tower of the ruined Trinity Church in Trinity Square, Margate, Kent.

An air raid siren wails as an Intelligence Director meets with Colonel Lorimer and Major Malcolm in the crypt of a bombed out church. Margate's Trinity church was hit during an air raid on 1 June 1943 and the ruins were demolished in the late 1950s.

Pressed by the Intelligence Director, Major Malcolm recounts that Lady Enderby closed her Belgrave Square house and moved north to escape the air bombardment of London. Kingsgate Castle at Broadstairs in Kent, seen from the doorway of the Captain Digby public house at the junction of Kingsgate Bay Road and Whiteness Road. The footage is taken from 1948's 'Castle Sinister'.

Following the death of Major Warren, a car turns into the driveway of the vast and forbidding ancestral home of the Marchioness of Enderby. The driveway to Kingsgate Castle on Joss Gap Road, Broadstairs.
