Phil Richards has sent us the following support material with regard to the comparative shot that he has provided.
The original scene must have been filmed from the 3rd floor of the south wing of the factory; so looking at a 2009 street scene from Google, something like this angle from the south wing towards the north wing.
The southern factory block is now a separate block of flats. I did hope to get inside that block and up a stairwell to a higher floor but the stairs are purely internal with no outside views. This shot has a similar angle to the original but a part of the original factory is lost due to the block of flats that have been built in the courtyard. I have identified the same window in each shot.
To further set the scene…
– underneath the new checkered paving is the underground car park.
– the single story building on the left has been replaced with a new block of flats
– the south wing of the factory is a separate block of flats; here’s the view of that south wing looking back from the underground car park entrance (brick wall to the left of the stairs).
