Storyline:
An aggressive and ambitious business mogul and inventor with little or no time for his wife, friends or family, is blinded in an explosion on the same day that his long-suffering wife had planned to leave him. He becomes bitter at life and becomes suspicious about their motives when his family take him to a countryside home.
His wife, however, is plotting with her lover, to make her husband think he’s going insane, in the hope that he will take his own life and leave them free to pursue their affair in peace.

Blinded in the factory, Richard Hammond (John Gregson), six months later, leaves home with Christiane to go to their place in Cornwall. Chester Gate, London NW1. Also seen in 'The Boy Who Turned Yellow'.

Thanks to parking, not quite as good as my shot 18 years ago. 39 Chester Terrace and the northern arch, close to Cumberland Place, remain unchanged. No39 was seen in End of the Affair (1955) with the arch seen in Keep the Aspidistra Flying. SJ

Richard’s partner David Merton (Michael Denison) joined the party for an evening meal and the following morning relaxes, painting a picture of the rear of the house.

After a further test to his apparent failing memory Richard decides to stay at home as the others go out.

Having escaped the house to go to the ‘village’ to tell all that he knows and that Christiane and David are trying to kill him he has an accident and ends up in a French hospital. Christiane and David come to collect him. It would seem that the action is in fact supposedly taking place in France to confuse his mental state further.
