At the Homecare Nursing Home, Hetty (Lesley Sharp) watches James Parkin (John Hurt) help his wife Alice from a taxi as the Driver unloads her suitcases.

Taking himself away for a break, James revisits the hotel in Combe Bideford where he and Alice spent time rambling soon after their marriage. Holland House on Kingsgate Bay Road at Kingsgate in Kent.

Unnerved by a white cloaked figure that appeared to follow him along the sand, James returns to the hotel. The Grade II listed Holland House at Kingsgate, built as politician Henry Fox's retirement home and converted into flats in the 1990s.
