Helped by Biddy Ross (Anne Butchart), at the station Jean Knox (Wendy Noel) unloads Mr. Wishart's racing pigeons for the train to Rugby. The presence of a former GWR Prairie tank locomotive suggests that this is nearer to the studios than Scotland and Jonathan Horswell confirms that his is the parcel dock adjacent to platform 5 at Southall station in Middlesex with the railings of the bridge taking South Road across the railway visible in the background.

As the rain continues to pour, two Miners climb a bank near the colliery to check on the sodden peat. The railway sidings at Whitehall Colliery in Rosewell with the pit head and winding gear in the right distance.

Biddy and Jean return to their homes as water starts to seep into the mine workings. Duke Street in Rosewell, since renamed as part of Carnethie Street.

The Mine Rescue Service is called in after incessant rain causes the pit to flood, trapping over 100 Miners underground. An article from Kinematograph Weekly dated 6th March 1952 details the building of a pit-head set on a lot at Southall Studios in Southall, Middlesex.

Wives and Relatives of the trapped Miners move aside as rescue expert Dr. John Cameron arrives at the old workings by car. This appears to be part of the impressive set built at Southall Studios.
